Vanessa Warwick was a fantastic host, who loved and cared and knew about all the bands. She was'nt just a pretty face hired to talk about music she knew nothing about. I loved it when the 'Ball went on the road with bands, and you got to see them backstage, or perhaps an exclusive studio report of an upcoming album. The special edition episodes about the Monsters Of Rock festival, or other European festivals were always superb viewing. Very exciting at the time.

I was hitting 16 when this episode went on the airwaves, and remember the vibes around the then upcoming AIC album. I was utterly obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins at the time and the Seattle scene in particular. But each week I tuned into the 'Ball to see how the heavier side of live was slicing up. Then Id talk to my best mate about what we saw the next day in school. I LOVE seeing klassic footage like this propping up. Absolute Thank You for the upload. Makes me feel like Im 16 again.

This era of Rock is fascinatingly captured here. Seattle still reeling from the tragic demise of Nirvana, but AIC bringing out a great album despite their own troubles. Def Leppard doing a very cool thing with the 3 gigs around the world. But Korn's early steps to big leaps worldwide are beginning here. I remember this- the album was'nt actually out in Europe yet, but their coverage on the 'Ball and the magazines like Kerrang was accelerating their advance, paving the way for Nu Metals reign by decades end. Yet here, you see them as a young, fired up band with something weird and new to show. It differs so much from the other veteran bands on the show. The tide was turning towards something new.

Same reason VIVA ZWEI died - because not enough people are listening to this kind of music nowadays, therefore it's not generating enough money
