Beautiful fight to watch. Petch is using his clinch/knee work to perfection (height and reach advantage over Saenchai) and Saenchai, in this case, cannot stop him. Petch is banking on closing the distance between himself and Saen, knowing that Saen has a first class distance game despite being the shorter fighter. If Petchboonchu stays at distance Saenchai can pick him off with his devastating kicks. Love this fight! 🙏🏻

Close fight. I gave saenchai round 1 and 5. Petch 2,3,4. Round 2 was a very close round each one almost got a sweep which would of sealed it. I think what made petch win is because in 3&4 it could of been 10/8 rounds. I mean when the ref seperated them from the clinch petch was pushing against the refs hand ready to barrel through. He is a muay khao so he's aggressive and saenchai is muay femur so he sits back and waits for them to come to him. Knowing that petch (a clinch fighter "muay khao") he implemented his game plan and got the clinch every time he wanted it. Thats what made petch win. Petch wasnt aggressive in round 5 because he knew he won. The judges know that and it plays a factor. Saenchai is the greatest fighter. He is excellent at all aspects. Just not as good as petch in the clinch. Thats what lost him the fight. He couldnt deal with the aggression of petch.

But also don’t forget that round 5 is a major round in Muay Thai too, in that round, Saenchai landed a clear head kick. Saenchai was also putting up the pressure. If it hadn’t been for the clinching, i think Saenchai would win.

Just curious, why does the referee let the clinch go on for a while sometimes and cut it short others? Very impressive fight to watch, two masters at work.

If both aren't eager to land anything or actually working to get a good position then the reff just separate them .

Some clinch they are actually still fighting and try to gain hand dominant, while other time they just resting on each other so the ref have to separate them

Ref breaks it up when you aren't doing anything; that's why the old school guys would move around alot. Clinch could go on for whole rounds

Petch has got Saenchai's number. That front kick to Saenchai's face is amazing. Petch figured out Saenchai. In each of the last two fights Petch gave Saenchai the early rounds to fight his way...but Saenchai had zip success..Petch took no damaged and countered effectively. Then Petch got aggressive with the clinch and the elbows. They haven't fought since February 2014...and Saenchai has fought FAR fewer Thais...looking for foreign scalps. He has only fought Three Thais in 85 (Eighty-Five) total fights since 2/2014..and lost to 2 of them..Singdam whom Petch beat in Oct 2014..and Petchtmorokat whom Petchboonchu lost to in Dec 2015. I'd be surprised if Saenchai wants any more of Petchboonchu.

A walking bag. Nong-O sat him down. A clinching master? Cmon. It's like i'm gonna grapple you not to get hit. Check out Saenchai clinching Pot. That is different. Yeah Pot is heavy but there is technique and wrestling and those knees angles.. would hurt, not just scoring.

Muay khaos have to get into the clinch to do their thing - which is to batter the opponent's liver, spleen & solar plexus with hard, hard knees. They're endurance fighters - they train the hardest because where they win is where both fighters are exhausted, but the muay khao can dig deeper. I've seen muay khao fighters knock folks out with liver shots. You'd come out of a fight like that pissing & shitting blood the next day. This is why Dieselnoi was undefeated for 6 years & why Petch does so well. It's a gutsy fighting style.

Im sad Saenchai lost his rematch against Petchboonshu on the last lumpini show, but Petch did fight a good fight and is absolutely the winner. Found him boring in the past but he's growing on me in some way

While Petchboonchu spends his time triyng something serious but without a chance, Saenchai offers not just Muay-Thai but even an spectacular Muay-Thai SHOW ! I feel sorry about Petchboonchu because he has no technique to compare, nothing to do, to face Saenchai. Petchboonchu goes into clinch, a kind of pre-MMA style, closer to street fighting but without enough skill to defeat a high-class Muay-Thai fighter as Saernchai IS. This is the TRUTH guys !

@@Friedermanns are you sane ? Petch is as good as Saenchai in terms of technique. It is not because a fighter does not show off gimmicks that he is bad. He kept his stance, his distance, and dominated Saenchai during clinches phases. That is all. Even Saenchai knew he lost in the end, before the referee announced it.

👎🏼 If you suck at jabbing, throwing hooks, boxing, roundhouse kicks, teeps, low kicks, high kicks, footwork, slipping punches, slipping kicks, countering kicks, countering punches, controlling distance then.... Just give your opponent a hug and clinch to get points to win! Who needs to practice the rest of Muay Thai when all that matters to today's (gambling influenced) judges is clinching? So whenever you're at your gym, remember, skip the padwork and heavybag and running; just get straight to clinching!

On top of that, to close the distance and get into the clinch without getting rocked is pretty impressive. Especially because pentch managed to faint out sae a few times, and sae is a God at fainting. Petch is basically number 1 for a reason, he is a amazing at clinch, he can close the gap so well, and get his knees and takedowns in so well, he can win because sae isnt as good in clinch
