I tried that the other day at a Japanese "Oktoberfest" German style event. I think it's one of those Japanese ideas of foreign things. Rather like their Hub "British Pub" chain, it's nice but not terribly authentic if you're from the original place!

Nice watching this as a Kobe resident. Kobe feels like one of those cities where it is more a good place to live than a tourist city. Within an hour's JR train ride you can visit several mountain observatories, the countryside, the beach in Suma, several traditional small towns including an Onsen Town, Himeji Castle and Osaka. You always have somewhere new to check out. There is a direct train to Nara too from Sannomiya that has a very photogenic route over the mountains east of Osaka. I'd still recommend Kobe if you're visiting Kansai and have a few days to spare. It's a good example of a normal Japanese city rather than Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto where you will see endless tourists. Great food, great nightlife, a nice little Chinatown, Kitano, one of Japan's oldest shrines (not the one in this video) amongst a few other things are worth seeing.

Kind of late to the party, however if you drop by Osaka again, try to visit Fanny Mae in Namba. It's a rather cozy rock bar, run by a lady that knows her rock music. Good drinks and good music are a sure bet after a day of eating things in Osaka. Also there is a jazz bar in the same building called Bird/56. A nice place to chill after a long day and sip whisky.

yeah... you kind of need to know where to get the good Kobe wagyu, and perhaps that is not it. That said, it is still very expensive and is it worth it? I'd say for the taste of good Kobe Wagyu yes, but money to quantity no.
