I remember watching MUGEN videos as a kid. I never got around to playing it because I was worried that I was gonna give my PC a virus.

"It's the best fighting game ever created, and at the same time...the worst piece of shit meme garbage you'll ever experience." Sold.

It's so strange just how customizable this game is, even to this day. Completely customizable movesets, and how they work, and the sheer amount of characters and maps, it's nuts.

In my town here in Mexico, there was this place full of arcades, which are commonly known as "Maquinitas", the local had some "recent" arcades where you could play M.U.G.E.N. games, it was a very interesting and somewhat unique idea.

The craziest parts are when you get to find *actually really good* characters and other content for an old engine like this, and the community of new creations is still thriving. Some of my most favorite things for it of all time include MVC styled characters, cartoons, and some even made exclusively for a Mortal Kombat styled game. You just have to know where you’re looking and you’ll find some surprisingly spectacular stuff. Obviously there’s gonna be more garbage than quality stuff since it’s a free open source game, but that’s what makes finding the good creations more special.

Actually you don't need to code the stages. You can use vselect by clicking view. Then click on chars then click on stages. Click on excluded and left click include. Hope this helped.

Yeah I got back into this game despite not having played it in like 10 years and it's still just as entertaining as ever.

God this was such a big part of my life for like 2 years.

My friend and I in high school used to play this a lot. As far as glitching, the pair Blackheart (MvC) and Evil (?) would glitch out when Blackheart died. He would resurrect unharmable and spam one of his special moves. It sucked to fight against, but was actually kinda cool and quite fitting.
