Rush would be a great rabbit hole to go down. Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada who had a 40 plus year career. This is in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Rush hadn't been there before and they didn't realize how popular they were. Yes, they were performing in soccer stadiums and at this concert to 40,000 people. YYZ is the indicator code for the Toronto International Airport. Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto when the indicator code came on and the beat stuck with Geddy Lee the bassist and Neil Peart the drummer. The first part of the song is in Morse Code for YYZ . To check out more Rush. Working Man live in Cleveland 🤯 Three guys pushing 60 showing the young ones how it is done ! La Villa Strangiato official music video. A masterpiece and also an instrumental based on a series of nightmares that Alex Lifeson had. Xanadu from Exit Stage Left Another masterpiece and this performance is even better than the studio version. Cheers 🇨🇦

Holy crap...am I dreaming??? Awesome!!!!! Mug, your face when the song started 😂 Is this your first prog listen? Here is Rush... Geddy Lee - vocals, bass, keyboards, bass pedals, main songwriter Neil Peart (pronounced like "ear" with a P and T) - drums, all percussion, main lyricist Alex Lifeson - most underrated guitarist in rock Neil is regarded as the best drummer of all time. Geddy is considered in the Top 5 bassist of all time. Alex has to live in both of their shadows.

Ged is my favorite bass player but if you want tapping on bass check out Anything Billy Sheehan. If you want a mixture of funk slap check out Primus. Both them guys are Monster bass players. All that said Ged is like Eddie to me because his tone is So unique and his playing is over the top. JMO Ged is the GOAT.

I grew up in a town outside Toronto and they lived in the next town. We we're in the park and heard music coming from the factories and we climbed on the dumpsters to watch in the window and saw them rocking out making the most impressive sounds we had ever heard. They saw us and came out and talked to us about hockey ( cause that's what we Canadians do 😂) and we talked about the music they were making and their cars they had beautiful cars. They were so down to earth and humble and then Geddy and Alex gave us guitar picks and Neil gave us drumsticks. Coolest moment ever. I saw them live in 88 and 03 and Neil's drum solo was Epic to say the least. Peace out ✌️ ☮️

Originally YYZ was a bass/drum jam that was intro’ed by the Morse code for the Toronto Airport Y-Y-Z. That’s why the middle section has bass and then drum and then bass little solo sections. The guitarist Alex came in later and added more melody to it and the guitar solo thing.

Dude, a reporter once asked Edward what it felt like to be the best guitarist in the world. He answered I don't know, go ask Alex Lifeson
@joeday4293
@joeday4293 2 ай бұрын
No he didn't. That is an urban legend, and I have heard countless names substituted for both countless times in my half-century-plus life as a musician. Eddie said go ask Allan Holdsworth, Neil Peart said go ask Buddy Rich, Jimi Hendrix said go ask Billy Gibbons, and on and on and on. No musician was ever asked that and said that response about any other musician. The only version of it that is true is that Frank Sinatra absolutely did once say that Tony Bennett was the best goddamn singer in the world, his words. That's it. Having said that: besides, Alex Lifeson, generally speaking in the music press, is actually quite a sorely underrated guitar player. He's a Master. But it seems that most of the people who know this are only other guitar players, not the general music listening public. At least not the way Geddy Lee and Neil Peart get so much love.

Lol, No he didn’t! It’s well documented than Van Halen were not very nice to Rush. Alex Lifeson has enough legit accolades and praise from other notable musicians that bullshit stories and versions of the urban legend “when asked how it feels to be the best guitarist in the world, [insert renowned guitarist], he answered, I don’t know ask [insert another renowned guitarist] aren’t necessary to legitimize the influence of Rush.

@@darrinwoodward14Okay, I *might* believe that if you can post a link to that interview. I’m a lifelong fan of both bands and was greatly influenced by both Eddie VH and Alex Lifeson. I’ve seen and read hundreds of interviews with both of them, and they’ve been very clear and consistent about the guitarists they admired or who influenced their playing. To my knowledge and recollection, Eddie Van Halen never mentioned Alex Lifeson or Rush. He always named Clapton as his far and away, clear number one favorite, with Holdsworth, Hendrix, Iommi, Townshend, Blackmore, and Angus Young as the other players he admired and respected. If this actually happened, I’m sure Lerxst himself would have had fun citing that quote and making ridiculous claims about other players, lol.
