This is called blue-eyed soul. These guys were the best. Bobby Hatfield with his beautiful tenor voice & Bill Medley with his deeper voice. They were magic together. And remember this is done live. No auto-tuning crap like today. And the songs had meaningful beautiful lyrics. Other great songs by them is "Soul & Inspiration", "Just Once In My Life", "Ebb Tide", "Rock & Roll Heaven" etc.

Dude; back in the day at a high school dance you had to be ready to hold your girl up while dancing to this , because these two guys would simply melt the ladys. I believe this is rated the most listened to song of the 20th century. Also this may be your first time experiencing Phil Spectors wall of sound. A recording method that became famous especially in Motown music.

They had great voices, from a bygone era. My mom went to see them at a supper club. I was 13 years old when the song came out. Much too young to really appreciate their talent and all the young people were listening to The Beatles, Stone's, and Yardbirds. As a point of Interest: my native town of Kansas City Missouri had one black-owned radio station, KPRS, in the 1960s and it is my understanding that the Righteous Brothers were the only white group allowed to be played on their station.

Loved your appreciative reaction! I’ve loved these guys since 1964 - especially Bill Medley, the tall one with the deep voice. Bobby Hatfield (really amazing high voice) passed away in 2003. Bill is 82 now and still performing, and I have a ticket to see him in a couple of months! Their biggest hits are on KZfaq and deserve a look- Soul and Inspiration, Unchained Melody, Just Once in My Life, Little Latin Lupe Lu. But I’d like to suggest you look at The Righteous Brothers and the Blossoms jamming in the Ray Charles song Night Time is the Right Time - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7NdZ6aG39bOeok.html Bill’s last 2 albums, made in his 70s, return to his love of the blues and are really great. Both are on KZfaq Music.

That said, while I have great respect for Bobby's talent & voice, it's Bill who has always been my favorite! Be still my heart, lol! Not a remaster. Just the single that was released in 1964 and hit the top of the charts in early '65. The original sound, which was, in fact, live, is not so great. But the Righteous Brothers were so good, they performed the song live in such a way that you could overdub the single and it synched perfectly with their live performance.
