The People's National Congress of Maldives' pro-China President Mohamed Muizzu won the Parliamentary polls with an absolute majority. In the elections held for the 93-member House, Muizzu's party bagged 66 out of the 86 seats that were declared. In a major boost, the vote is seen as a crucial test for Muizzu's plan to press ahead with closer economic and defence cooperation with China. The Maldives is one of those key South Asian countries where regional rivals China and India are competing for influence.

The Maldives are an independent nation. They have the sovereign right to be friends with China, Russia, Cuba, Thailand, Turkey or any other country that they want. India should keep quiet and stop behaving like a jilted lover.

It's not entirely India's fault. Maldivian government clearly forgot to set boundaries. This is what happens when you get too cosy with your friend. They start to misunderstand the relationship 😂

Is Maldives becoming a source of pain for India? India's diplomatic and strategic responses too are quite unique. It leaves an impression that India is anxious about the loss and is desperately projecting it's anguish on the adversery country by implying that the adversary is already regreting their move and they may soon be desperate to normalise relations with India or are already softening their stand against India. However, to the contrary and on the ground, that country countinues to mount pressure on India, for valid or invalid reasons, and often gets into escalation/provocative mode. This has happened with Canada, Qatar and now with Maldives. Perhaps Indian decision makers are doing so out of domestic compulsions like election or declining popularity of our ruling dispensation i.e. BJP govt/ leadership etc. We are also lead to beleive that India is on the thresholds of becoming Vishwa Guru, regional power of global significance, global north etc. These are far fetched assumptions barring few good exceptions. So far we have only succeeded in demonstrating our potential to the world i.e. proof of capability and not the fruits of it. Satyamev Jayate! Jai Hind 🫡

If they want to become pakistan, its their choice. And why the hell modi is hesitating to give full support to Phillipines and taiwan. Why only few units of brahmos ? Give them pinaka, tejas, indina artilleries, war vehicles in discounted price. Give them defence loans.
