The area surrounding the Pathibhara Temple offers breathtaking natural beauty with panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range and the surrounding hills and valleys. The journey to the temple is considered a spiritual and adventurous experience as it requires trekking through rugged terrains and picturesque landscapes.
It is situated on the hill of Taplejung at an elevation of approximately 3,794 meters (12,448 feet) above sea level. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Pathibhara, who is believed to be a manifestation of Goddess Durga or Kali.
The Pathibhara Temple holds immense religious significance for both the local Limbu community and Hindu devotees from various parts of Nepal and beyond. It is considered one of the most important and revered pilgrimage sites in the eastern region of Nepal.

We started our hike at 0330 in the morning from mathilo phedi and reached the top around 0645 in the morning.
I would highly recommend to hike up early during the dawn. This will make the hike easier since you won't be mentally tired seeing the steep uphill hiking during dark.
Also the skies generally clear for a very short window during the sunrise at the top.
This gives you ample opportunity to see the Kanchanga mountain range from the top.
Pathivara is considered a sacred religious place for Limbu people.
