Where I grew up, this grows in abundance... We would hike for miles on summer days, this was the number 1 go to, for number 2! Then there was the occasional river rock... That was back before there were fences on every postage stamp lot...

Yep 9 years ago dug a trench and planted Martha Washington asparagus and South deep purple. Two or three years finally filled the trench end and started mounding. 9 years later I've got a 25-ft row 4 ft wide. We harvest twice a day

No one can believe all the beautiful asparagus that I harvest everyday you cannot even lay it across the gallon size bag twice a day. It took a long time but it pays off. That house in Utah I left them a 25-ft row of purple asparagus that was just Dynamite. That garden area was so full of awesome dirt I hope the people that moved in there appreciate it. I had locked my Gates everybody was in after my massive tomatoes and carrots and onions oh my

I always enjoy hearing about how a plant was used by the Native Americans or the homesteading settlers. I couldnt fund a good patch of Mullien last year. What I saw was either situated on a rocky outcrop too high up to attempt to get, or too close to a road. Then low and behold, this year, 1st year mullien are all over my field.

Thats great to hear you have some growing in your field! I have always been fascinated by how prehistoric people, native Americans, and the early settlers have used many plants as well. They knew so much more about herbalism than we do, because they had to use them first hand for survival everyday. Hope you are able to find some good uses for the mullein you found! Thanks for the comment ReiberSue! 😁

@@WalkInTheWildMedia I found a wonderful book on plants for food and medicine. You may want to add it to your library, if you can find it. It's called "How I can use herbs in my daily life" by Isabell Shipard. She is from Australia so not all the plants can be found here. For each plant She discusses, she details the history, the uses, and anecdotal stories of what benefits it conferred to her or to people she knew.

Thank you, sir! This is a plant I know very little about, despite having an abundance of it. The only thing I’ve ever done with it was infuse garlic in olive oil, then infuse the mullein flowers in that oil, to help with my son’s ear issues after he had tubes put in.

@@timmynormand8082 You can find it on Amazon if you aren't able to find any in your state. It should grow in Louisiana though. You may have to go look in fields or on the edges of tree lines in the woods where it gets lots of sunlight and drainage. Heres some links to Mullein if you wanna buy some. 🥬Mullein Concentrate, Raw Leaves, and Seeds: Mullein Tincture: amzn.to/3WewzOz Mullein Raw Leaves: amzn.to/3QpyFHz Mullein Seeds: amzn.to/44iAT18
