This is an awesome tutorial!! Played around with it today and this seems right up the alley of what I need!! Thanks again for the awesome tutorials, I'm definitely moving in the right direction forward. A few things I gotta tweak to get it where I want. Appreciate you so much for putting these out to help the community!!

Glad you enjoyed it, the only catch with this method is if you don't line up your stencils perfectly then you'll notice the gaps between layers. That's why the new plugin has the layers overlapping and getting smaller towards the top. Makes it much easier for beginners.

This is closest to how I want the stencils to come out but I'm so new at this so I'm up for anything that will help. I've seenost of your tutorials and trying to test the all out. I like the way the colors and layers come out with this one though so I'm up for any suggestions

Thanks for sharing this program, it makes it easier than with other programs, I have to explore more options, and add the right bridges because I cut the layers by hand, but in general, it's awesome thanks again ;)

Glad to hear the video helped you out and its always worth exploring different option to see what gets the best results. I'll probably do another one using photoshop with a really high res image for more detail sometime in the future. Cutting by hand is something I used to do alot when I was younger and had the time. My wife got one of these machines recently and I saw it as the perfect opportunity to get back into it and cut a few stencils.

Could I plz ask how you go about images with lots of islands as I have a griffin image I’d like to do but there’s a lot of islands that I need to keep in place and I’m using the cameo 4 to do the stencils thanks for taking the time to read many thanks ash
@WickedPaint
@WickedPaint 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you check my new spiderman stencil video you can skip to the part where I talk about islands and hiding them behind the layers above. Creating islands is the most time consuming part of making stencils as there is no easy way to do it but really important as it makes painting so much easier. I've heard lots of good things about the Cameo and would really like to try one out. The only thing that is a real let down with the Cricut is the software that comes with it.

Fantastic explanation. Thank you ! How do add those register marks at the same spot on each layer? And I don’t see how you used the crosses register marks when spraying?
@WickedPaint
@WickedPaint Жыл бұрын
Glad the video helped you out, I usually set up the register marks on one layer and then copy them across to the rest making sure they are in the same spot. I use them for cutting to make sure each layer is the correct scale and spraying to line up each layer.

Busted!! I knew someone with a keen eye would notice it eventually! Yeah I forgot to add the registration marks on this stencil so I had to eyeball it when lining up the stencils...still came out ok though but I always make sure to add registration marks in my videos these days.

@WickedPaint
@WickedPaint 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, to get the stencils to be the same size add a marker in each corner like a + on every layer in the same place. You can use the dimension of these markers to make sure each layer is cut at the same size and then also use them to line up each layer when your painting to make sure its really accurate. Hope that makes sense and helps you out!

Hi I am wanting to make a 16 colour image into a stencil so I can spray it, but when I move each stencil to a each layer some of the layers are the same and it did not separate into the shapes/layers I wanted.
@WickedPaint
@WickedPaint 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have never tried that many layers before but it has happened to me with some images where the stencils didn't capture the detail I wanted. One thing you could do is create the stencils as the software does it but then add a layer with the details you want created by hand.

Could I 3d print the stencils?
@WickedPaint

@@WickedPaint Yeah, I just used the online stencil generator, and made them in Fusion 360. Haven't tried printing yet, but they look flawless when sliced. And yeah, I guess if I want something bigger I will split each stencil into pieces, and then simply glue them together.
