ooh almost didn't expect to get this finished. Sony Vegas and my hard drive both stopped working more times in one day (note: almost 10 hours straight of vidding bc yikes I'm bad at time management) than they have in their lifetimes. Something did not want this video to be made.
This is much lower-effort than last year, I'm afraid. I've been so busy that I just haven't had the energy for any actual effects.
As always, I'm only editing things I watch, so if there are obvious exclusions from 2021 here, just assume I haven't watched it (with the exception of The Chair, Bake Off, and the Friends Reunion - all of which I completely forgot to add to this!!)
I decided to focus on key themes running through the video: a disconnect with reality, a loss of control, taking control over your life and making choices, grief and loss, hope and faith, and finally, the people who matter most to you in this life (I also have some fun sections that don't have themes ahaha). I hope what I was trying to do came off well.
Last year had been so bleak and full of grief and my video had tried to reflect that. I hadn't expected us to be in the exact same position a year later so I didn't want to recycle the approach I'd taken last year. I apologise that there is such a profound emphasis upon grief and loss, it just felt apt.
