I don't know if I'm being dumb but why is multiple myeloma called myeloma if the problem is with the lymphoid stem cells not the MYELOID stem cells

Myelo- is a word that means “bone marrow”...Mic drop! 😁

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis thanks. I still don't get it because the word myelo- in myeloma gets me confused with the other blood disorders e.g. AML from the myeloid cells

Or to be more specific, it means “marrow” or the inside of things “the core”...So, it can refer to the spinal cord as well...”myelitis”...The spinal cord is the core at the center of your vertebral column.
