Great video Dr. Beaber! So much information. Do you think there could be variations to the 4 types of MS you listed? What about PPMS that isn’t slow. From mild foot drop to wheelchair in 4 years. No relapses just steady and fast progression. Is there a name for this type of MS?
@DrBrandonBeaber

There is not a separate name for this, but unfortunately in some cases progression can be faster.

Hi, thanks for your story and insights. I have been having symptoms for 1-2 years. Off and on. Recently I had a brain, c spine, thoracic, lumbar and sacral MRI spine. Scanned with 1.5 Tesla without contrast. All came back normal with no evidence of lesions of demyelination. My dad has MS. I wonder if the scan was strong enough or if something was missed or if this is all in my head now, what do you think Steve or should I rule out MS? Thanks

Greetings Dr. Beaver! I was wondering if you could provide a link to the studies about EBV and multiple sclerosis? I contracted Mono in 2011 while serving in the US Navy when working as a hospital corpsman. I was diagnosed with MS this past June. I am filling a claim with Veterans affairs and need supportive evidence that EBV is strongly associated with MS. I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

I have a video on this exact topic. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pN-TfKuoyb3aXas.html Around 90% of the population has been exposed to EBV, so I'm not sure if you can file a claim based on this.

Hi Dr. Beaber, thank you for the video. Would you want to make a video about the new generation of BTK inhibitors in MS? Do you expect them to become the first real treatment for progressive MS? Could they also turn out to be as efficient as anti-B-cell antibodies in relapsing MS?

Thank you for this video. My main question is, as far as I am aware, there is no medication currently on the market that has shown the ability to prolong time to cane, time to wheelchair, and time to bed. If no medication is able to delay the onset of when I will require a cane, wheelchair or bed bound, why would I take any medication if the end destination is not affected? With the safety concerns with many MS medications and side effect profile is not awesome, why not just let the disease run its natural course?

Thank you for the excellent video Dr.Brandon. About the yellow fever vaccine, it seems that recent studies reached the conclusion that YFV does not worsen the course of RR-MS (for example, the one published this year by Caroline Papeix, Julie Mazoyer and Elizabeth Maillart, or another study published last year in Switzerland by Angela Huttner et all). What do you think of these?
@DrBrandonBeaber
@DrBrandonBeaber 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what to make of it. I personally would probably just advise someone with MS to avoid the yellow fever vaccine unless it's absolutely necessary just in case.

So if oligoclonal bands are found in CSF and serum but have MS symptoms, is it most likely not MS?

Do think if you are a previous smoker and have quit for 4 years but occasionally vape nicotine when I get a craving instead of smoking, do you think it’s as bad as smoking for increase chance of relapse, I know it’s pretty hard to answer with the little data there is and I know Vaping isn’t overall a good choice but it has kept me away from smoking for years. I got on not to vape sometimes for months at a time.

Hi, I have since 3 months symptoms Bladder, Bowel,Sex.. problems and some in brain. I have made MRs of the brain, cervival and thoracic and Nerve water. The docs say "Everything is ok " Everything is NOT ok. I want do not want to be sick but there are problems since 3 months.I think I can have PPMS. Why? Because it get problems with typical MS Symtoms like Bladder e.t.c. and it gets more worse from month to month. What are your thoughts dear Doc Beaber? IN ADVANCE Thank you very much for your answer

It is my belief MS genetically is in the "X" chromosome. I am male (diagnosed 03) and have MS my Aunt (60's) on my mothers side had MS and my great aunt (20's) on mothers side had MS. Generically we are only connected through "X". Also the numbers say 75% are Females. They have two "X" and "X" 25% are Male we have "X" and a "Y" that is just my belief I could be wrong. Stay safe everyone

There is a lot of research on the genetics of MS, and I have a video on this topic if it interests you: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kMd6fpmfq766YKs.html There are various genes which correlate with MS risk on various chromosomes. It is not specifically X-linked.
