Yeah definitely man, like most of the uploads but I think this stood out more for me because it was the type of music I make so I could really get into this one, plus his workflow is really simple yet the end result is amazing, which is really fun to see compared to for example someone like Au5 who has like 3414 layers and automations in each song. And I just realized there was a sample pack, thanks for that :D

I love that he goes from recording individual notes on the guitar and arranging them on his computer to absorbing orchestral choir chords that have beautiful harmonics.

Wyatt Christensen no i havent ill have to download that. My biggest takeaways were definitely the reverb vocal in the drop, iv experimented with adding it to my own mixes and it sounds great. Also I learned what the Haas effect is. But probably my favorite is learning that the guitar can still sound good if it is chopped up, and put together so individual units make a new melody. I never thought of that.

Wyatt Christensen Thanks! It's great to see "In The Daw" pop up again lol I loved this episode. I'm a huge fan of Said the Sky, plus his tip about not over eq'ing sounds really helped me, because I do that all the time and usually end up getting rid f sounds that could've been awesome. And of course, I can't resist a free sample pack 😂 Actually, like a month ago I made an instrumental using my daughter's voice, so I'm chopping up your daughter's voice and using that for the verses. Baby collab lol 👶 🎶

Awesome episode! If you could do an In the DAW with Au5 for his remix of Ocean by Seven Lions and Jason Ross that would be awesome! It has tons of glitch fills during the melodic drop that Wyatt always comments on and I'd love to see his workflow.

17:35 haha when I taught you that, I said it doesn't mess with the phase too much only if you band split beforehand and only apply the spreading to the high end (like over 1.5 khz). don't misquote me =P

Hey random question. With the 6-7-1 Pattern, isn't the 7th chord always diminished (vi-vii(o)-I)? The progression sounds awesome here. Just didnt sound like a diminished chord. What was the second chord you were hitting in this progression? Not near a piano atm. Much love

I use Abletons gate for sidechaining

The gate has a sidechain toggle and then you turn on the sidechain input, and then turn on "flip" (which reverse's the gates behavior) and then you just mess with the parameters however you see fit. I'd recommend 10ms of lookahead time. With 1.5, there's going to be a lot of clicks. It's honestly much more efficient/cleaner than the regular compressors sidechain.

Yea man, DIVA is just so incredible and Repro is the next soft synth I am saving for. Well Fab Filter is the obvious one: Saturn and Pro-Q 2 are two of my most used plugins. Another really popular company that you may already know is Valhalla DSP. Some of the sickest reverbs available. For a less obvious choice I really like both PSP and Toneboosters. They make two great saturators (Vintagewarmer and Reelbus, respectively). Audiodamage make great plugs too I would also highly recommend getting Reaktor by NI, since it's not only got great official content, but it also has an incredible user library full of 1000s of great plugins and synths (Boscomac make some of the best free Reaktor ensembles). The reaktor user library alone could have you set for life.

Audio uses less cpu than using midi with vst instruments..
