Hello Russ! Multnomah Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the entire country and I am very happy to have visited this beautiful Columbia River Gorge Region. Way back in 2010 my brother and I drove from Rhode Island to Seattle( round trip ) and Multnomah Falls was one of the highlights of the road trip. Great video Russ!

This was one of favorite places to go when I was a kid when we'd visit my grandmother and family in Portland. Lots of years ago. It's much busier now, as all things in the Gorge are. But I have to agree, Oregon does have the best places to stop and they do a really good job.

When I lived in Portland we would go to the falls quite often. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Different photo shots. Have hiked up to the top. Better be in good shape. During the fire they almost lost the visitor center. One year a big chunk of the cliff fell off the falls. Thank you for the video. Haven’t seen the falls in years since we moved.

The road you mentioned is probably part of the original old highway. You can still drive on part of it. Really beautiful

Next time you are driving along the Columbia River gorge, Leave I-84 at Troutdale and take old highway 30. It climbs above the gorge, and then drops down and runs somewhat parallel to 84, and passes several waterfalls along the way. A beautiful drive in spring, summer and fall.

Russ... I'm glad you stopped at Multnomah Falls. I was last in Oregon back in 2001. Doesn't look like it's changed much in 18 years. Still have the photo I took of the falls, framed and hanging on my living room wall. Thanks for shaking those memories loose. Keep the drone shots of the river coming. It's really cool to see it from that point of view. Thanks for sharing your travels and adventures with us. Have fun always and safe travels. Randy in Des Moines. 👍🌎✌

I ventured there once when i went on business trip. Before i headed back to airport, I took the short trip to see the falls. I parked in the lot next to visitor center. I hiked all the way to the top of the falls. Its spectacular view of Columbia River Gorge from up there. I could see for miles. Was a beautiful sunny day. Someday take your walking poles and go to the top. Spectacular view.

Passed through there riding motorcycles in June '72 after getting out of the Army. We hiked to the top. It looked much different back then and we probably were riding on the historic road - no I84 back then.

What you do not know is the area was covered in fir trees and most are gone from the tragic Eagle Creek fire last year. A teenage boy throw fireworks into the forest and burned up a large part of the Gorge . I was born and raised here I live in Vanc wa today

Isn't that falls beautiful...gosh it's pretty in that area. We have been watching when we can and send you a big wave. We are a tributary of the Columbia River from the Smilkameen River from Lake Osoyoos and Okanagan Area. If you look down you will see the water we saw a few days ago...LOL I think the Columbia river is so beautiful, so big, and many travel it from the ocean. So interesting Russ. Thank you so much for sharing those Zen moments. CDHx2

I was hoping you'd remember to duck going under the train trusle. I don't think you waved at us in this episode. I loved seeing the falls, seemed like a good day to see them, no hot sun or crowds. Beautiful scenery. Seemed like alot of history on the information board about them? The little shop was cute too. Happy 4th, safe travels. Thank you for taking us along. I wish you had a way to see just how many of us actually wave back at you. lol

Nice "you are here" VR style video. I really appreciate seeing this post as I was in Portland for the July 4th Blues Festival and leaving on Sunday July 7 decided to visit the Falls again (lived in Portland for seven years some twenty years ago). Got there around 2pm and parking lot was full, so I couldn't stop and just took cellphone video while I passed by the Lodge and Falls.

If you get to the top I think it's a mile of walking in 84 I went around the other side of the fence the Cyclone Fence where the Falls go under it I think there's about 1/2 ft of dirt ledge I held onto the outside of the fence while my girlfriend watch this was in 1984 it's seven hundred feet down its lucky I didn't slip but it was a test of challenging death bad thing I know but I'm still here I'd have known nobody yet to do that? Going up inside the lodge they used to have people rooming up there that Cafe in the corner was out of the 1920s have a good trip

OMG! ok so I had to stop the video when you went under the train bridge and you wished a train would pass over. OK, so... just on the outskirts of the city of Superior is a little town called Oliver. There is an old wooded double decker bridge called the Oliver Bridge. It sizable and it spans over the St. Louis River which goes into Gary New Duluth in Minnesota. That train scene in the movie "Free Will" was filmed on it. Anyhoo... I had driven across it to get to Duluth and a few occasions a train loaded with ore would pass overhead. It wasn't inches over your noggin like that one in the video but it is still a creepy sensation especially over a bridge well over a few hundred years old.
