My mother and I always had a bond around music. Everything that I know and love about music I can directly attribute to her. When she was diagnosed with Cancer I had just started listening to Mumford and Sons, and for some reason I choose to play this song for her, never really hearing it before. We both loved it. We both cried. This song will always be me wanting to hold on to hope that my Mother was going to be alright. It's been 6 years, since she passed, not a day goes by that I don't think about her or my father who I lost in 2018. Someday, I'll get to see them again, till then, I'll just keep coming back to this song whenever I want to remember her smile.

"I will hold on with all of my might." That is such a powerful lyric. So much more powerful than, "I will hold on as long as you like." (Only live and US versions say, "with all of my might".) Great song either way!

You saw my pain, washed out in the rain Broken glass, saw the blood run from my veins But you saw no fault no cracks in my heart And you knelt beside my hope torn apart But the ghosts that we knew will flicker from you And we'll live a long life So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light 'Cause oh that gave me such a fright But I will hold as long as you like Just promise me we'll be alright So lead me back Turn south from that place And close my eyes from my recent disgrace 'Cause you know my call We'll share my all Now children come and they will hear me roar So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light 'Cause oh that gave me such a fright But I will hold as long as you like Just promise me we'll be alright But hold me still bury my heart on the cold And hold me still bury my heart on the cold So give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light 'Cause oh that gave me such a fright But I will hold on as long as you like Just promise me that we'll be alright But the ghosts that we knew made us blackened or blue But we'll live a long life And the ghosts that we knew will flicker from view And we'll live a long life

just a quick word to ravi i was very touched by your comment. Sadly my father lost his fight with cancer and i would not want it for my worst enemy i wont waffle on but its sad but we were relieved when he past. And my mum and i would play this alburn coming home from the hospice and i would find the tears would start streaming down my face. love to you and r.i.p dad always rememberd
