If you watch a lot of TV, you know Harold Dieterle from winning the first season of Top Chef. If you love food and eat out in New York often, then you know him from the three outstanding restaurants he owns: Perilla, Kin Shop, and his latest, the Marrow. Going into this episode, I thought because of Harold's experience with filming that this was going to be a piece of cake, and he would drop everything to tell the camera about how his love of cooking evolved from an early age, and blah blah blah, etc., etc. Instead, for the first hour of filming, he yelled a lot while juicing rhubarbs, and I was completely relieved. Harold chose his good friend John Fraser, of Dovetail, to join him at his usual haunt, Blue Ribbon, for some Yuzu Highs and fried chicken before getting a nightcap at their favorite bar, Daddy O. Enjoy.

I dont watch too many Muchies episode but I read the comments first and this one wasn't as bad as I thought from the comments. There are some Munchies episodes that are wrapped in the lifestyle of high society "food critics" who seemingly eat copious amounts of food everyday in their own little world. I didnt get that from this one. This was mainly a day in the life of a NY chef/owner and his friend.

Have you even worked in the industry? In the kitchen and out all cooks do that, its part of the culture and they wouldn't be doing that if they weren't great friends to begin with.

Sort of, I've been worked in pubs and bistros for 15 years, but the only time I've seen people act like this is when there's a ton of coke involved. I get that there's piss taking and stuff, but these guys are just unnecessary. But then again I'm in Australia, we're fairly chill out here...

I think it speaks highly to the fact that there are different people all over the world, and they way you and your friends may interact, isn't necessarily the way someone else and their friends might interact.... Me personally, me and my buddies sometimes, and sometimes often take the piss out of one another. Especially back in the day when I was younger and we all drank more... It's just the way we interacted as friends. Yeah, some people look at it and say "Man, you guys are always cracking jokes on each other or talking shit (not in a serious manner though), I don't see how friends can do that.", but me, I don't know, I think it's just that me and my friends aren't super sensitive.... Who knows. Like I said, I just chalk it up to everyone being different, therefor people interact with each other differently.. Not everybody is going to get along. Some people may think the way someone is or interacts is too, soft handed or just too damn sensitive, while others will take a look at other people and think that they are completely abrasive and unlikable.

I know eh man, love meeting new folks! I still work in a bar, so I get to do it all the time which is awesome :) Don't get me wrong, I rip on my mates and vice versa all the time. But I dunno, it's like there's no friendliness at the heart of it with these guys. It just kinda creeps me out, but fair enough I do have a tendency to be a bit over-sensitive.
