Every PTO job I ever did involved an oil bath in transmission gear oil !! Don't know if that's where the hair went or not but probably didn't help !! As someone else said , to tight it whines to loose it rattles and some drivers can't hear either one !!! Choosing that correct speed can be tricky but makes huge difference !Thanks for the video!!

There are times on jobs when a manual impact removal tool (aka lump hammer) has to come into use. I note you are quite skilled and experienced when using such a tool. Great video Andy!

Played with too many... Nice thing is, it's usually just cheap bearings and a seal.... Unless the coupler doesn't get greased... Then it's the shaft too. Thanks for the video Andy

Make sure it was shimmed correctly. To tight will take out the bearing pretty quickly.. 006/. 012 back lash between the countershaft and pto driven gear.

MAKE SURE YOU GE TTHE RIGHT GASKET TO SHIM THE PTO TO THE TRANS...THERE ARE DIFFERENT THICKNESS GASKETS THAT SET YOUR GEAR LASH ON THAT PTO

Surprised that the backlash isn't more critical other than gasket spacing. Usually it takes a dial indicator and gear marking compound.

Love these kind of videos where you learn how to work on this stuff leave it or not they're very reason I was watching this videos because we got a crane truck a sterling crane truck that the PTO just like this went out and I wanted to see exactly what you did my biggest problem is is they're saying it's going to take six to eight weeks before we can get one in and I'm wondering if there is any other companies or maybe some other places we can look where they might have them in I'm in North Carolina but I can order them from New York or anywhere it don't matter just get them overnighted or whatever if you have any ideas if you happen to read this I'd appreciate you know any ideas you might have appreciate it man thanks a lot

Great video brother mines is a shaft connected to the pump I keep having leaks on PTO where the shaft connects I believe is the O ring now I hav to replace it again for 3 rd time in 6 months

That PTO gear box is to close to the trans there is a tool to set that up to figer out how many shims it needs between the trans and the PTO box + gaskits

You forgot to tighten up a bolt looks like. Looks like just in front of the pto on the inspection plate maybe.You couldn’t hold the camera still long enough to be sure

im pretty sure its 6 to 12 thousands from the pto drive to counter shaft when you install it Andy im sure you know this already. i have installed so many i never checked them with a dial indectactor just by feel. hes not leaving it engaged while driving i hope ?just buy a new drive Andy

Nice!! You may or may not remember last winter when I sent you a pic of my pto on the manure truck? That damn thing chipped a gear in the trans. Had to call Jerry at R and M in Pennsylvania for a pump. Thirteen hundred dollars later. Then the pto pump went to shit. Patience’s of a Saint you have. It took a 12 pack to get mine back in.
