The Meredian trains, operetad by Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) are local trains between Munich, the capital of Bavaria to both Kufstein or Salzburg, just across the border from Germany into Austria.
In this video, we'll be taking the train between Munich in Germany and Kufstein in Austria via Rosenheim. From Kufrstein we continue the journey by another regional train to Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian state of Tyrol.

ftlog if you have a eurail pass, you can usually take any train on this route with little to no extra charge, so please don‘t take this one if you‘re interested in a more scenic ride between Innsbruck and Munich, I recommend taking the S6+RB6 anyways (takes 25 minutes longer than this one), otherwise long distance RJ/EC trains with ÖBB seat reservation for 3€ I‘ve taken BRB many times and the experience got worse with each one, the trains are disgusting and punctuality is terrible

The german 49€ ticket is valid and with a regional/local austrian ticket you can reach Brennero/Brenner in Italy.

Just for the description, these trains haven't been called Meridian for a few years. They're operated by Bayerische Oberlandbahn, but are now branded Bayerische Regiobahn since no longer being called Meridian.

I love international local trains Living in Bielefeld we have a local train to Hengelo in the Netherlands and it has to cope with the power changes between the German and Dutch systems. It used to be that you changed trains at Bad Bentheim with little steps to get on the higher Dutch trains LOL

The reason there are no local Austrian trains into germany or the bavarian service doen;t go beyong Kufstein is this would duplicate the local services , also the austrian services go to Salzburg via the internal Austrian line that branches off at Worgl , if you need to go on in the Innsbruck direction there are plenty of through trains from Germany or you can swap to the local service at Kufstein for the smaller stations as shown here.
