I had a '69 Charger for 23 years that I had purchased used for 450 bucks. It was an original 383 "forest green" car with an automatic trans. on the floor with the center console. I dropped a 440 in it and painted it black. They do look good in black. I'll never forget the day I sold it. I'm standing there with a check in my hand, watched the guy drive off and then I just stared at the empty spot in my driveway. I read somewhere that we never really own these cars but instead are just their caretakers.

I had the 69 Charger R/T with the 4 speed manual. Mine was orange with the black vinyl top. Just awesome power. Had it up to 147 mph. :))

I like the fact it's an auto with shift on the column and doesn't have the bucket seats with the floor console. Too many times people upgrade cars like this and they loose what makes them unique. I always preferred the looks of the 69 Charger. And in this form over the Daytona. But I can understand why they developed the 69 Daytona and the 70 Superbird for superior aerodynamics.

I read that the Hemi option for the Cuda in 1970-71 had added about 30% to the base price on top of poor mileage number and then the high insurance . The rare Hemi Cuda convertible in 71 ( just 7 ) came about by the higher end price when the 440 six pack ( 17 made) option was 50% of the hemi and still put out lots of torque and a decent level of HP for the street .

Those old school look tires with the hubcaps give it a dark,demon-like look. I think they look way better then the big oversized modern ones with the bling bling spinners etc....

The only difference was the Charger was a 383 4 speed car. The epic Ford verses Dodge battle. The best thriller car chase up to that time. Good stuff Maynard.

Mmmmmm- very, very nice. Always loved Chargers, and looks beautiful in black. Those skinny little wheels and tyres arent really in keeping with the rest of the car- I know thats what it came with but they must struggle trying to put that Hemi power to the floor- could do with some big 5 spokes.....

Was the scoop on the doors an option? The 69RT had the scoop on the front of the doors. I always thought they were standard on the RT. Does anyone know?

I wonder if these guys pre oil the motors before they run them , Had a moroso accusump on my old Mustang and flip the valve before starting it and the saved up oil pressure would push fresh oil to all the bearings, great idea for any stored car.

The Brothers need to buy some scales, that car is around 4300lbs not 3600 which is the weight of a fairly small 69 Camaro with a BB. The manufactures listed shipping weight although it seems to be a mystery as what that actually means. Fluids spare tire and tools certainly weigh less than 700lbs. This shipping weight was transferred to registrations and frequently quoted as curb weight. So while the information is accurate based of the manufactures paper work if you drive it to scale you will get a far larger number. Modern cars seems to be far more accurate.

Such a sexy car, but those skinny ass wheels and tires just look awful. They also are gonna make it really hard to put any power to the ground. Should have put in some mini tubs, 12” wide wheels, 345/30/19’s would have been perfect.

no way a 'new Honda Civic' could out-accelerate a 1964 AC Cobra 289, mainly because that car had excellent weight distribution which gave it something other contemporary cars did not have : TRACTION (rear tires hugged the pavement so much that slicks were unnecessary)
