I have a comparison between the GM performance & the Holly 302-2 oil pans. I give you the dirty on both side by side comparison on measurements & what comes in each box also what to expect.

How about using the GM CTS-V oil pan?

I think this lies down to oil pan clearence on different types of frames. You can't base one better than the other. It depends on application and what type of frame you have. Holley is well known in the industry for blueprinting and making better aftermarket parts.

I cut a truck oil pan only because I didn't have the cash for the holley but if I was to find a few coins in the couch ill be purchasing the holley lol good luck on your build also i would take a peak at everything just in case something is damaged it may save you a migraine or two if something is broken lol

@650: whats the threaded hole for on the gm performance oil pan? Im woundering if i can shave little bit off got a. Abody my sterring bar hit on it?

Hey @TexasNova if all Else Fails read the Instructions .. You are supposed to modify and use the windage tray that came with the stock oil pan .. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rKh9qMZmzK-ok2g.html GM Pan packaged in Canada with a pan cast in China .. the Holley pan some parts in the USA , but pan cast in Taiwan .. You put your fingers over the part #'s and info so people can't read them ..

your right both got the baffle the tray you have to cut the OEM to fit with the holley tath it! :) Holly for me for ground clearance! :)

Does the Holley Pan have same provisions for oil cooler lines.. ? I would like to see the gasket on the Holley Pan .. I would also like to know why the Holley does not have any sort of a decent windage tray ?

Holley 302-1 for impala 65-70 hands down. I just learned that lesson. The gm muscle car pan fits but hangs two inches lower than the crossmember. The 302-1 will be flush with cross member. Other cars will be different so buyers do your homework

jsta327 - right. It hit my crossmember which I knew I would. Sold it for a hundred bucks. 👍🏻

Yep and the Holley pan is 1/16 to 1/8 thicker too all i did was put washers under the engine mount perches bolts to raise it up that lil bit so it cleared the cross member by the washer width. Worked for me hope this helps you folks with a 65-70 imp. Might not be the easiest or best way its just what i did.

Don't really know. Think that is for an ls3. Could be wrong though. It is for sale though.

I am using a 5.3L Vortec into a 67 C10 (Stock FRT height) and plan on the GM oil pan. It is the OEM pan for 08-10 H3, 09 Colorado/Canyon, marketed as a muscle car retro-fit pan. The Gen111 Vortec using a grey nodular cast iron block while others are aluminum. Just keep in mind, the oil pan is designed to add stiffness to the block supporting the main bearing caps and torsional forces over the length of the engine. As for the country of origin, GM built a plant in China about 20+ years ago and sell certain Chevys & Buicks in the Asian market. The supplier for this cast is using GM molds and the correct alloy. I will buy OEM. No offence Holley, I have just seen way too many Holley casted products in the defects/returns pallets with porosity issues at warehouse distributors. I do understand well, most are installed by the DIY crowd but the root cause is clear when looking at the product & tags. Retired ASE Master Tech doing MY research for MY build.

Where did you get that Holley 302-2 for $200?? I'd like to know since I'm about to buy one. Second you're comparing the GM windage tray to the Holley baffle that bolts down inside the sump. When using the Holley you have to modify your stock windage tray and shorten it. Please let me know where you found that Holley for $200. Thank you.

Did you consider any oil pans by Moroso? I think they have an even better ground & cross member clearance than the holly.

Ya know I didn't think about that. The only thing is the more shallow you go the less capacity you get.. Do you have a link I'd love to see it!

Here is a youtube video by Moroso. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7B0mpeeu9mzdZd8.html have a 67 impala and it will be lowered & bagged and am trying to make sure the oil pan will clear the cross member and have good ground clearance. And I discovered this LS swap kit website (brphotrods) and according to them, the Moroso has a very good pan for LS swaps. Moroso seems like their pans are a little pricey but seem very popular in the racing industry. I think they have a good reputation. In that video, they talk about making up the oil capacity. let me know what you think about these after looking at them. thanks.

No they're too deep & it'll hit the crossmember. Donno why they don't offer a lower profile imo.

I got the holly. But after seeing that I was thinking I made a wrong choice if it did fit. But looks like the holly was the best option for that factory look. Thank you great video. I was looking up install videos. I’m Almost done with my first LS built.
