IFBB Pro and elite bodybuilding coach, Iain Valliere, takes us through one of the heavy chest workouts that he uses to build his massive chest.
Iain's Chest Workout:
Incline Bench Press 3 x 6 (warm up), 2 x 7-8 (max),
Incline Cable Fly 3 x 12-15 (rest-pause on final set to failure)
Decline Hammer Press 3 x 6 (warm up), 1 x 7-12 (max), 1 x 7-12 (strip a plate)
Dumbbell Fly 3 x 8-12
Incline Machine Press 3 x 8-10
Chest Dip 3 x 8-12 (failure)

roger kle so he should be doing 130 pound dumbbell FLYS (not press)? Gotcha. I mean barely any gyms even carry much heavier DB’s than 125, which you have to be very strong to even bench press or row a dumbbell that heavy, much less perform a fly.

Zalapski his db flys are almost like a bench press but with little adduction outside chest. Maybe that's why he is able to. Maybe if he completely adducts his arms with 100lb dumbells he'll probably break his shoulder

Wolf yes that’s true, basically a neutral grip press with a fly movement, but still impressive to me. I gave up on doing flys with free weights, but feel almost no activation in my chest from strict dumbbell flys.

There’s no grip that will save you from that amount of weight if it falls. He can probably balance it better using that grip so good on him.

One of my favorite videos! Iain is an absolute beast in every sense of the word. Is every bit as strong as he looks. 160 kg for the incline bench press with reps is insane. Phenomenal size, especially his massive pecs and rib crushing thighs for someone who's definitely not short with a decent height of 180 cm. Very intelligent, down to earth honest guy, who's articulate and willing to share training tips without hesitation. Blessed with superb genetics, he also seems to take good care of how he looks by taking medications to prevent hair loss. Very marketable good looks, blond hair, piercing blue eyes, and unblemished paper thin pale white skin.

Lain is going to be top 5 on the Olympia stage in a few years. He’s way younger than the top Pros, with more muscle maturity and continuing to work on his weak points, he’s going to be a fucking beast on stage for years to come.

Killer workout! Now for something like this, do you hit chest multiple times a week, or would you take upwards of a full week off after this. I’m in that intermediate phase of struggling with the logic of working a muscle 2-3 per week with less volume, or just 1 time with a lot of volume

Erik Vest all that matters is weekly volume for muscle mass. If you wanna perform all these sets in 1 day or 2 days it’ll be the same. Most people dedicate one muscle group per day to a achieve more volume which is the key driver for muscle mass.

@@troysmith958 if you go too heavy and go too "far" while doing suicide grip the risks are really high, but, if you have a good spotter, and control how much you lift, I feel like suicide grip is the way to go. Used to do conventional grip for a few years, but since I started using suicide grip I seem to be able to push more.

His training philosophy is similar to what Mike O Hearn or Dorian Yates or Lee Haney advocates. Ensures longevity while gains don't hit a plateau. Stuff legends are made of 💪
