matt manages to make this song sound quite dreamy yet holds such sadness. its a genius use of sound from a rainy day too! and the arrangement of this song from how the guitar starts from dreamy, slow plucking to fast strumming at the end, it clearly stirred up some emotions in a way!!!

so, after listening to this song many times over the years and loving it, I believe I've now figured out what the lyrics are about- It's about his loss of faith and the feeling of emptiness associated with losing something that was so important at one point in time. No one's there to notice our loneliness- there is no god. . "I believed that youll always be here" He believed that life would be worry free and that god was to always be there. "Don't Break My Ideals.." don't challenge my faith. "TAKE ME BACK AGAIN" he longs to be back in that blissful nirvana of religiosity. does anyone else see it that way? am I slow for just now "realizing" this? haha

That's such a beautiful analysis of beautiful lyrics, really helped me to listen to the song in a new way; it made me cry relistening to it after reading that. I think "says what's fake was always real" really helps to reinforce your statement, as do all of the lyrics, especially in the last verse. Thank you :)

Me too. Well, actually I had heard Stockholm Syndrome and Butterflies & Hurricanes first, but I was officially hooked after I saw a video of them playing New Born Live, complete with a map of the galaxy as the background on the stage. :) I've enjoyed them ever since!

Has raining at the start like their new song the Globalist. This song says "Hope was the one, now it's gone", the Globalist says "There's no culture to left to cherish, its gone you know its gone for good". The start of the Globalist says " You were never truly loved" this song says "And say what's fake was always real" maybe the evil was real and his love never existed the song ends with "I just needed to love"

Sometimes I've noticed Matt uses "Our" or "us" in place of "me". For some reason I always pictured "No one's noticed our loneliness" as an intentionally different way of saying "No one's noticed *my* loneliness".... I dunno, That's just the thought that came to me.

I couldnt agree more. They are a brilliant band that, to me, has yet to release a song i couldnt listen to on repeat. The Resistance, while different, is extremely artistic, even more so than all previous albums. United States of Eurasia? That's a magnificant moment in music history. All in my opinion of course. To each they're own.
