My attempt at trying this song again, and please don't ask me to try Hysteria, because that WILL NEVER HAPPEN! Muse is another of my favorite bands.....
ABOUT MY CHANNEL & ME. This is me learning to play my Peavey Millennium BXP 4-string bass. My first bass since deciding to learn to play an instrument. GO ME!! OK everyone CHILL! This is me, learning this song, any song, and learning to read music and tabs. Learning, learning and then.... learning. Even figuring out how to set up my bass and amp, hold it, make sound come out. Setting up a little camera and using it's sorry little mic. I know it’s not a hard song, it’s not a well done cover by any means, but.... it was fun learning. Yes, there are a lot of views, probably 99% by accident, and because there's a girl playing a bass. It's a process ya know, this loving music, enjoying bass videos, deciding I wanted to play music, specifically a bass, and following through. The rest is history in my little life.
This is me LEARNING this song, I don't play it “correctly” I’m told (duh) It is what it is & I had fun learning :) But, I tried anyway. I started this channel to upload my videos so I could share my journey with my family and friends. Back then I couldn’t text or even email videos, they were too large.
I wasn’t uploading to show off for strangers, I respect musicians enough to realize the work that goes into playing bass and respect the real musicians out there who inspire me. I only want to play bass because I enjoy it, it helps me cope with my illnesses, it's therapeutic, helping exercise my joints, fingers, hands because I have Scleroderma, Achalasia and Lupus. Autoimmune diseases that strike and begin destroying your immune system, internal organs, joints, muscle, nerves and the very parts of my body used to play an instrument. Figures! I find a passion.... set out to learn and enjoy... only to be diagnosed with disorders that will eventually end my ability to hold a bass and play anything. So I keep playing and adapting myself and mobility issues so that I CAN keep playing music. It's not technically correct, looks awkward, but my technique works for me. To hold a bass, play notes, put them together and sound comes out! There was nothing to show off for. If so, why the heck would I share my journey uploading covers that have mistakes.
These videos have never been monetized, it's copyrighted music. I'm embarrassed to admit that 14 years ago, when I started this channel, I was clueless as to monetization and that a person could make money on KZfaq! Duh me but hey. Imagine my surprise, when after quitting KZfaq for 10 years then returning, seeing the word "influencer" and seeing a bunch of content creators, "KZfaqrs," who make their money on KZfaq. Kudos to them that is awesome! Seriously. And..... alllll the bass guitar channels online now which I enjoy so much! 🤘
Now, 14 years later, and all the opportunities I’ve enjoyed playing bass in bands, writing my own music and bass parts, even doing studio work! Who would have thought?! I’m happy to say I’m glad I decided to pick this hobby up, and even grateful I started a channel to document it. Because I've met so many nice, cool and inspiring people from around the world. It doesn't matter to me HOW you got to my channel, what matters is you DID and you took the time to watch, comment and even subscribe. I'm forever grateful to y'all because it's you guys that kept me plugging along, learning. Sappy I know, but it's my truth.

Hey Miggy G., thank you so very much! I love it when people understand WHY I took up the bass. Not to be the best or anything, but because I choose music to fight my disease, and it helps!

Very nice. I'm 15 and i play bass and the first songs i've learned were from No Doubt because their basslines are pretty awesome. I'm starting to get into some good bass songs from Bon Jovi and i recently learned Keep the Faith, it's pretty fun to play.

Hey, ruskinrick! Thank you SO much for the positive comment! I SO appreciate it. Plus, that is really weird because so many people have told me I look like that gal in greys anatomy, even some family members have told me! Guess its better than being told I look like Gollum in Lord of the Rings, although, I'm sure there are some that think I do, who cares! lol!

This is where you learn just how much of a novice I am.... I use an Ampeg SVTpro 4 or something like that. Then the speaker cabinet. Don't know the amps. BUT, I also use a Peavey combo amp, 115. I didn't use it on this song though.

Nice job. And don't be intimidated by Hysteria; though it sounds difficult, it's actually remarkably easy to learn if you learn to play it slowly and then incrementally pick up the speed.

You shouldn't let any song daunt you so much. If there is a guy on here who can kick more ass then most these yahoos on youtube with only one hand I'm sure you could tackle this iconic bass line from Chris. Just break it down and take it slow. Look into possibly getting Guitar Pro 5 so you can download it and slow it down to whatever speed you need. Hell I was able to learn Racer X - "Scarified" by doin it. Try!!!

trust me (as a bassist) hysteria isn't half as hard as you initially think - it's just insanely random note placement. but once you've learnt it slowly playing it fast is a piece of piss.

that was good...... for some reason your right hand technique looks wrong to me, it may or may not be, maybe its just cause you have smaller hands but i think your playing with your first finger a bit to much (not criticism, bassists should help each other learn and grow) (i may be wrong)
