The tryst in the anime was much gentler and put more of the responsibility on Roxy.

Sylphie growing up knowing paul did always expect rudeus to want more wives, in the Light Novel she even talks about deciding to be a mediator for who ever brings rudeus brings in and make sure the conflict doesn't get too bad. So my problem was never the pologamy my only problem both in the Light novel and The anime was that rudeus promised to stay loyal if rudeus had not the promise, i would have cared less but i understand why rifujin did it that way.. rifujin wanted rudeus to promise to stay loyal to make the mistake because well its a paul parralels rudeus thing. In season 1 rudeus looks down upon paul for being a cheating scumbag, and as the story goes on rudeus realizes that he isn't that much different from paul and that he can just easy make similair mistakes which are things i like about paul and rudeus's dynamic. Of course paul was not depressed as hell when he cheated and zentih was millis faith straight up and told paul to stay loyal so that changes things a bit but either way it was still cheating due to rudeus making the vow to stay loyal as a husband.

It's ok to be disappointed with Rudy and Roxy but look at it this way: 1. Rudy hasn't eaten for almost 2 weeks (I think). Elinalise and Geese were in agreement: if nothing changes, Rudy is going to die. Flatout. 2. Everyone have tried their best to reach out to Rudy but he's in such a depressed state that nothing was getting through to him. 3. PSYCHOLOGISTS AND THERAPISTS DON'T EXIST IN THE MT WORLD. 4. Elinalise had experience consoling adventurers before by bedding them, and it worked. She refuses to do it for Rudy since she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she NTR'ed both Cliff and Sylphy. 5. The brothel wouldn't work since Rudy refuses to come out - and he wouldn't even look at the prostitutes if they rolled up with one. 6. Now, this is important: ROXY TRIED OTHER METHODS FIRST before resorting to sex. 7. The group had no choice in the matter - if Roxy didn't step up, Rudy is just a dead man. I am not excusing their behavior - it is still cheating. But if you ask me if I were to choose between having a cheating incident that saved a life or just letting that life go, I would 100 times over pick letting a cheating incident happen. The sex wasn't done out of malice. Rudy and Roxy didn't want to maliciously cheat on Sylphy - it was just the last resort and it was to save a life. Sylphy understood that. She understood what it meant when she married Rudy. She understood what it meant when Roxy stayed behind the house. Finally, she wasn't a follower/believer of Millis. Heck, she more or less grew up in Paul's home where Paul was involved in a polamorous relationship. She KNEW what she was getting into by marrying Rudy - she even straight up told him to go find a mistress after their marriage. Finally, she understood that given the choice between her husband coming back in a body bag or him coming back with a +1 to his body count and a +1 to his harem, she'd choose the latter rather than the former.

There was a difference in the Roxy Rudy scene which I prefer. Firstly it was rudeus who pulled Roxy back not the other way round. Secondly Rudy explained everything, he fully explained why he was so sad at Paul’s death, the fact that for the second time he didn’t care about his parents. He pretty much told her that he was a reincarnate, and she worked it out. Also mental health isn’t really a thing in this world, they don’t rlly understand stuff like depression. Rudy hadn’t been diagnosed eating for like weeks, so Roxy just heard that sometimes men who were depressed who elinalise slept with would get better, so she wanted to help.

I watched a video on the morals in The Incredibles (pixar). Looking back at how you presented Roxy's dilemma here reminds me back to how Syndrome, the villain in Incredibles, justified his actions, and how Mr. Incredibles reacted to it, right before the "if Everyone's super no one is" quote. It boils down to Mr. Incredibles saying "You mean you killed off real heroes so you could... *PRETEND* TO BE ONE?!!" Despite perhaps making a similar crime, what makes Roxy much less of a villain is that she's basically his one salvation (again), and no one is telling her that Rudy absolutely would reciprocate her love, much less ask her hand in marriage despite having a wife and a child already. Syndrome however, believes that might is right, that everyone around him is less than him, and chooses to double down on his pride/envy, and wrath whatever the reason may be. You might also say there's also some gender dynamics differing these two, but that's a part of the factors equally in play here, and people have waaaay more nonuniform (and very emotional/loaded) opinions on that. Especially anime fans. So I chose not to talk about it here because I'm a coward.

anime covers a third of the content in the novel its not like he went to the dungeon, killed the hydra, then roxy comes in a day later, rudeus was inside that room for a week without eating anything it also covers why she pushed herself onto him, there's a bar scene where elinalise hints to roxy that she should save him by sleeping with him

The possibility of wealth becomes endless, where as before, marrying 2 or 10 wives wasn't a cultural imbalance or monopoly. With that being said, yea, I get a weird bias about how to view it as an american. I am asian, but. I don't know.

Episode 11 did the light novel dirty, it's way different from how things went down in the light novel, I strongly recommend you read it to get a better idea of why the characters acted the way they did. Volume 13 page 171 onwards, that said you have a very wrong perception of how and what Sylphie thinks and the novel explores the headspace of other characters a lot more and it helps you understand everyone better so you should consider reading the previous volumes too and you can stop at the end of volume 13 if you don't want season 3 to be spoiled for you.

All the toxic problems with this series and nobody wants to talk about the fact that Rudy was already in his 30s when he was reborn, so when you add his mental age to his physical age, he was in his late 40s when he got with then 15 year old Eris, and he's over 50 when he married Sylphiette who would still be underage in our world when she married him. Roxy is technically different because she's Demon race, but they mature slower than humans and she's got the body of someone younger than even Sylphiette so it still comes across as icky.

paul's death was so much worse in the light novel. This was an incredible season but the impact the light novel has is just astronomically greater

Season 3 will def be one of the greatest seasons of anime in general, especially considering the shit that's about to go down and turning point 4. Like that's when mushoku really just goes beyond and shows spectacular storytelling

Then someone forgot who said they saw elanise sleep with a man and they came back to life. So Roxy determined to help Rudy out try to get him to go to the brothel. It didn’t work. But then Rudy in the ln was the one to push Roxy down and it was said he was very rough with her. So yeah they r both toxic. Poor slyphy but slyphy expected it

To explain some of Roxy's actions, you have to know that it wasn't her idea to sleep with Rudy. They were all discussing the situation becauae Rudy hasn't left his room and has barely eaten in three weeks. Elinalise came up with the idea to sleep with him but didnt want to do it herself and Lilia was busy taking care of Zenith. So in the end they were going to leave Rudy alone in hopes that he gets over it himself but Roxy knew how mentally weak he used to be and wanted to help him. She did actually take advantage of him in a vulnerable momemt but in her eyes she was only doing that for his sake and it clearly worked. She intended to leave and probably never see him again after that. Her saying "I know you usually wouldn't want someone like me" isn't meant in the way that "I took my chance now becauae youd normally say no" she meant it more like "I'm sorry you had to do that with someone like me" You have to also realise that Rudy has always loved Sylphie and Roxy. If he had met Roxy first then she wouldve helped him cure his ED and he would have probably married her instead of Sylphie. So it's not like he's going out to cheat out of lust but rather that he's always loved both girls for a long time. The anime had to change a lot of details about this episode to make it easier to anime onlys to understand so it makes it look like a lot of characters are worse than what they actually are. Another thing is that Rudy never planned to marry Roxy. He did love her but he didn't want to do that to Sylphie. The reason he ended up actually marrying her was because Elinalise LIED and said Roxy was pregnant so he was pressured into marrying Roxy due to guilt and responsibility. He always wanted to marry her but Elinalise basically gave him that last push. Also great video as always🙏

The most toxic thing about S2 is my opinion on keeping Yumi Uchiyama as Rudy´s VA. She´s a great VA but she doesn´t fit the character anymore.

Some people really just need to read the light novel and shut up. First of all, with the Roxy, Rudy scenario, the positions were reversed. He found her, her smell comforting. I believe it's been about 10 days at this point since he has been able to eat without throwing up whatever he was eating. This world also has no mental health care whatsoever. So what were they supposed to do? Just let him die? It takes about a month to go back to Sharia to Sylvie, so even if they had gone straight to the teleportation portal, Rudy would be dead by the time they got back to Sharia. The anime also skips very important conversation saying that sometimes, sex is the only thing that can work in that kind of situation. Elenallise is the informant in this case. And she has been around for maybe a millennia at this point even if she doesn't remember all of it. Also, and this is a big point, this world is not Earth. This is a different world, with different morals. You shouldn't put Earth morals into this world. The only major thing that Rudy even did was break a promise. There were extenuating circumstances, but he still did break a promise to Silphie. That I acknowledge. However, instead of just keeping her like a side piece, he brought her into the family, into the marriage. When something devastating like that happens by the way, you really can't think. So I can't guarantee that thought he had a wife even popped into his little head after Paul died. Yes, Rudy should have mentioned he was married while they were having that conversation in the dungeon. But I most certainly do not think that he anticipated what happened, happening.
