I'm teaching agriculture in CO and have been introducing my students to growing mushrooms. They are super excited, and the business-minded ones will LOVE this information. Thank you for sharing! I've been using the LTMF as a foundation for my course. We are using buckets and coffee grounds for ease of stackability which have been donated by some parent's food businesses.

That's amazing, and glad your students are loving growing too! It's great from a business point of view, and looking at the circular economy too... good luck!

You guys are a never ending source of knowledge & inspiration! I hope you know at some point we'll all be nominating you two for sainthood! I have been doing some similar research and finding a lot of the same information. I just wanted to say that the mushroom clothing is something else. But I'm not surprised, I've been making flavored Kombucha for a couple years. I was first struck with the plant clothing when I found out that they were making clothing from the SCOBY. I guess there's a market for anything someone will buy. I can't imagine the chemicals you'd have to treat these things with to make them act like regular cloth. And for goodness sake; don't get caught in the rain! Anyway, keep up the great work fellas! The Shroomers are on the raise!

Great video guys. You certainly have done your homework . I am so glad to see that you are still going strong for mushrooms. Thank you for sharing this. I feel very lucky to have seen this video today. My market research here in the USA agrees with yours. Mushroom Revolution has been underway for quite some time and I hope it continues indefinitely. Mush love to you guys. Cheers.

Im looking for a video to help me understand if my expectation, as a self sufficiency homestead matriarch lol, of buying spawn once (with wood) and cultivating a continuous cycle of mushrooms, mycelium, plugs, etc etc from this one purchase. Is it like a sourdough starter? Is there a video out there regarding such topic? Thank you for all your great videos and information!

I have seen several videos out there on mycelium cultivation. Like yourself I wonder how easy it is to continue the cycle. I have taken into consideration the space needed, both lab and cultivation area. How long I can keep it viable & how much time it will take out of my week to start and maintain it. That said I purchase 4 different cultures. Two in plug form and two on grain. I have inoculated several logs with Shiitake and Chicken of the Woods. But I also took a couple self sterilized jars of grain and inoculated them with a couple plugs each. With the grain, both Pearl Oyster & Lions Mane. I started a couple petri dishes, hoping to get a pure culture to do the same. I also threw some into another set of self sterilized grain jars. I was given Mushrooms from a Blue Oyster grow kit and mycelium from a Golden Oyster grow kit. Both are in petri dishes as tissue cultures. As of this writing its been 3 days and I'm starting to see signs of growth. Nothing bad yet! Knock on wood! I'm probably doing too much to fast, cause at the same time I started a bail of Lions Mane & Pearl Oyster! But in all the research there is the hint that not all purchased mycelium is created equal. So another part of the experiment is to find the strain that works best with the type of medium you're using, and perpetuate that strain for your situation. Get atit! And good luck!

I tried to order your tinctures but im in the US and it doesnt seem like an option 😢 any recommendations on US based companies, before i try making it myself?
@GroCycleTV

Yes - our friends at FreshCap do some great medicinal extracts - mostly in powder form, but I know others are making tinctures - just make sure that they are well produced, so from fruiting bodies, no fillers, dual extracted... FreshCap are top guys so they would do you well. They're Canadian but I believe serve the US too!

Can we grow oyster mushrooms with tea ground without pasteurizing?
@GroCycleTV
@GroCycleTV 3 ай бұрын
If they are fresh from brewing, it should be fine, but if they have cooled and been lying around for a while there is a risk of picking up contaminants - so may be best to gather up all of the grounds and repastuerise (with oysters you can reboil - we use he hot water method with straw) - good luck and let us know how you get on!

Statistics are great. Reality is a different story i.e. All microgreen companies "as a silicon-valley business investment venture" have all but failed because 100 companies went head strong into the same space (-$1B+ lost)... and most failed - so, please don't believe the hype! Everything you've both described has soooo much truth though! but, unfortuately the masses don't hear our story yet and it'll only work if we "trend it up" with proof... "not whats on the wee bit a paper on ya desk". The UK & Global medicinal mushroom market is so small that diluting your main business focus from growing/providing gourmet mushrooms might put your business in the red. Please focus, focus, for our industry, you must stay on the absolute proof of ability to build on our foundations and not preach 'what we don't know & can't predict' business model - but build from the mycelium up {ground up with strong foundations} like you have both done over the past several years - Business does not have a heart-beat or emotion, cold hearted facts only make profit thankyou. And you both look miserable reading from that table.

What company are you using for compostable bags now? I’m in the USA and want to go microplastics-free.
@GroCycleTV
@GroCycleTV 6 ай бұрын
We had our compostable bags custom made here in the UK by www.polybags.co.uk/shop/compostable-bags_c1854.htm. The material they are made from is called Mater-Bi, and it is made from starches, cellulose and vegetable oils. You can find more info including the TUV certification from the material manufacturer here www.novamont.com/eng/mater-bi. They are basically a thicker version of the compostable waste bags that are widely sold in most countries...it must be 100% compostable, not just degradable (which many other products are misleadingly sold as!).

@@GroCycleTV thank you so much! Bless you✨ I’m loving the course and am planning my mushroom farm out here in Washington state❤️ I am really wanting to pioneer zero micro-plastics out here. @@GroCycleTV Hey fellas, just a thought. But I'm guessing those bags would be for pasteurization only? I'll jump into the link. But that was the first thing that came to mind when reading it's composition.
