Not sure any guitarist is as active with tone/volume control as Steve. Constant adjustments. Extremely nuanced player. Oh, and ridiculously skilled.

I saw you in Toronto some 30 years ago playing Dreggs. You are an idol of mine on guitar. You gave me the kindest smile as I drooled watching/hearing you. Great guitarist and a great person. Nice to see your right wrist without a bandage for a change. Take care and stay well Steve.

Thats a beautiful guitar. I'm glad Steve got Music Man to put on a clear pickguard though. I really hate the white pickguards that are on most guitars. I just dont see the point of painting an instrument in a beautiful colour then slapping a horrible bit of white or off white plastic on it.

That body looks SO similar to the Ibanez Roadstar II body. The only difference in shape is on the Roadstar II, the upper horn had a small difference in design (it was Luke's signature guitar in 1983). Although I had, as a 12 year old girl, a Bill Laurence pickup installed in the neck position to get that creamy sound. Although the Roadstar was sold in this color scheme, mine was the first aqua to black "sunburst" (thanks again to Luke). My point in saying all this? I started listening to Steve in 1983, and this guitar he's holding brings back SO MANY wonderful memories of the first year I gigged with that beautiful guitar. This guitar (and the amp & pedals) sounds INCREDIBLE! 💙🎶

Anyone ever noticed that when Steve is talking about the music he makes with Deep Purple he nearly always plays woman from Tokyo which is a tune written by his predecessor Ritchie Blackmore. You'd think he'd want to play one of his own compositions.

I bought a music man axis, 23 years ago and no guitar except maybe another Music Man feels right to me. She is not a looker compared to the Beauties out there She's a plain Jane to the untrained eye, with a subtle metal flake pewter finish on the body, polished chrome Hardware bird's-eye maple neck and headstock, Rosewood fretboard, mm90 with black covers, whammy bar but no locking nut, (i have Incorporated the whammy bar into my playing Style so much that I feel like something's missing when I play a guitar without one. Not so much for deep dives but subtle pitch variations and expression.) I have a top of the line (not a custom) Strat that is arguably The Best of the Best as well as other fine six string specimens but none compare to My Music Man. The playability the sound the feel the craftsmanship.. Forgetaboutit.

This is one of the best guitar demos on KZfaq. One way to improve upon it, though (of course in my opinion) is to remove the delay, as it makes it a bit more difficult to hear the true sound of the guitar.

I love Steve Morse and greatly respect his amazing playing BUT I ordered this exactly model and din't like the sound. I found the tone, attack level and sustain mediocre compared to all my other instruments; PRS, Les Pauls, Stratocasters and Telecasters....Steve would probably sound amazing on any model of guitar but I wonder if this guitar was designed only to be used with a wall of racks. I would appreciate other people's opinion. I ended up parting with this instrument. The neck is very easy to play and the general ergonomics are great. BTW I had the pickups worked on by an excellent luthier.

Hello, I have a fixed bridge Y2D since 2006 (just when it starts to be sell), and my guitar gets a very large sound projection, long sustain et lots of dynamics. So, maybe there's an issue with your guitar ? :(

You can get one with a Floyd Trem. I don't think he ever was a huge trem user though.
@stevewilson9778
@stevewilson9778 4 ай бұрын
Based on just looking at the guitar, I assume that tailpiece is used to allow the Tune-O-Matic to sit closer to the top of the body as opposed to a Les Paul-style which sits higher off the body. It looks like it gives the guitar more of a hardtail feel without actually using a hardtail. Then again I really have no clue. Just a guess LOLOL.

Dear Steve, I just found a killer deal on one of your Y2D guitars, and I realized something dumb about it. Super Dumb! Why... Do you have a pickguard at all? You may be thinking, "What do you mean? It's to hold the electronics!" No no no. The electronics are all direct mounted, and the guitar is rear routed. So why does the pickguard even exist? Certainly not for actual protection from scratches, as an experienced player such as yourself could avoid that by now. Just my 2 cents. 😉
@GGMcGame
@GGMcGame 4 жыл бұрын
I remember Steve saying in either a interview or demo that the pick guard adds a bit of height which keeps it the same as his number 1. So his volume and tone knobs sit at the same height as his other guitars.
