So I swear to god, I looked up around 3 years ago skate routines to this song and found nothing, assumed it was never gonna happen, and let it go. Then suddenly, it pops up in my recommended, a video from 3 years ago, and I'm like... what the hell. Did it show up like a week after I gave up? From my favourite male skater of all time? How the fudge did I miss it?! I'm so mad I had to wait so long to stumble on it!! This is beautiful!! ;-;

I've watched a few of Lambiel's post competition skates, and I think he skates with every part of him being lost in the music. Very expressive and beautifully choeographed.

What he did at the "no sweeter innocence" line...that was so powerful. My immediate instinct with that part would be to go soft and gentle like the song, but in making that powerful fast move, he really asserted the truth of the song. At least, that's how it felt to me.

Given how homophobic the real life figure skating world is (unlike the non-judgemental world of Yuri On Ice; bless Kubo-sensei for creating it and vowing to protect it at all costs), simply performing on this song is a milestone in itself. *drowns in pool of tears* PS: Glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of Victor by this performance (the spins reminded me of the spins from the Stammi Viccino Aria)

@@yuhhhh1705 many skaters have been mocked by commentators or even marked down for the pronouns in songs. Almost as a reaction to people assuming figure skaters are gay people being out can be career ending. With every corperate sponsored sport if you're out many many companies won't sponsor you.

I really love how he is still able to retain a masculine feel despite such graceful flowing movements. Lots of male figure skaters mimic feminine posture and movements because they typically score higher and look aesthetically better, but it takes real skill to pull off a consistently masculine feel throughout the performance and still look extremely aesthetically pleasing. Manly figure skaters... yum.
