As the guide mentioned, Su graduated from Sakura Gakuin in 2013 (March), and Yui and Moa graduated in 2015, also in March. Momoko transferred in to the group the next year, and Kano transferred in sometime after that. So while the avengers Momoko and Kano overlapped in the group, they weren’t ever members at the same time as Su, Yui or Moa.

Now you know why so many fans love these young ladies. We watched them grow from pre-teen idols into a global session. Yet they remain polite, humble and very thankful for their fans. AMUSE is a talent agency that produces and manages many different artists. Besides being involved in the Idol industry, they also manage other music artists like One Ok Rock, Perfume, and Glim Spanky, actors, voice actors, performers, session musicians, etc. They are probably one of the biggest talent agencies in Japan.

Just to add a little more, they also have their own record labels online merch store live streaming service etc. Almost everything they do is in-house. We don't know that the Kami Band members are not on the studio recordings we just assume this as they are not credited, most likely they use the studios resident musicians as they would be cheaper and Amuse are responsible for finding those guys work as well. Despite negativity towards Amuse they do a good job of looking out for their artists interests.

Great stuff, so pleased you are watching Cryptic Misery's guide. I think all your questions have been answered already (while I was watching the video). This guide took us up to about March or April 2021. The 'Stairway to Living Legend' mentioned at the end turned out to be an announcement in October 2021 that BABYMETAL would be taking a hiatus and that the three metal spirits had left Earth to travel the Metal Galaxy together with a video with a special version of their song 'The One' - this was 'The One - Stairway To Living Legend'. When you have seen 'The One' I would recommend you watch this version too. In April 2022 they started to release very short snippets of new music and in October they came out with new announcements about new singles and a new album - and their first live shows in nearly two years which happened during the course of this past weekend ... and with the news at the end of the second of those shows that it seems they are bringing in a new 3rd member (nobody knows who yet, but I think most people think Momoko being made a permanent member seems the most likely choice).

An other maybe important detail: The One is actually both Babymetal and their fans. Not just the fans. A small detail, but an important distinction.

From my understanding why Kami Band didn't involved in the recording was simply because of logistics. You see, Kami members is high skilled musicians who have their own projects, some of them have their own band, some of them session musician with high demand. They're basically busy. Because they're not officially member of Babymetal, everytime they're called to do something with Babymetal, of course there's going to be some fee for their time. Which isn't cheap. As you know, recording songs or album in the studio takes a lot of time. They hire studio musicians for this, which is cheaper. So Babymetal team only use expensive Kami Band for their live show.

A lot of info to add to this guide since recently we got more news from latest live shows, but here's some of it for you to know. Recently, January 28 and 29 they returned to the stage after almost two years, here's some little info I gathered from some kitsune around, big thanks to *Flugelhorn* to helping with some of this. BABYMETAL RETURNS "The Other One" live at Makuhari Messe 2023 January 28. Backup dancer (avenger): Momoko Okazaki. Kami Band: Takayoshi Ohmura, ISAO, BOH, Hideki Aoyama. Tracklist: 13 songs (5 new + 8 old) 1) METAL KINGDOM * 2) Divine Attack - 神撃 * 3) Distortion 4) PA PA YA! 5) Gimme Chocolate!! 6) Megitsune (Extended Intro) 7) Doki Doki Morning (1) 8) Light and Darkness + 9) Monochrome * 10) Headbanger!! 11) Ijime Dame Zettai 12) Road Of Resistance Encore: 13) THE LEGEND + * Live premiere + World premiere (1) DDM was performed by original BM and another new BM unit wearing old BM costume with red color skirt. Apparently SuMetal's doppelganger was played by Miko Todaka from Sakura Gakuin (same group they all come from). SuMetal's mirror: Miko Todaka (SG) MoaMetal's mirror: Kokona Kato (Amuse) Momoko's (avenger) mirror: Sakia Kimura (SG) - January 29: everything was the same except for final announcement and news about live shows in April 1 (Fox Day) at PiA Arena MM Yokohama, legend is called BABYMETAL BEGINS, and also at the end they show three coffins and possible announcement of new official member (probably Momoko) as well a new BM unit (probably the same we saw performing DDM). Also a new teaser about THE ONE reborn was released, everything will be revealed in April and as always OTFGK. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Thanks for this reaction 4:21 while it's not a real school, it does exist to have their talent grow with the experience they get from being in this group. Yes, Kawaii means adorable, like a kitten. But as is clear in Japan it's a whole cultural phenomenon. Babymetal performed in 2016 at Wembley Arena, first for any Japanese artist, but a week before X-Japan should have performed, but couldn't because of health issues. Wembley Arena is 12 000 people, this isn't Wembley Stadium (the newer one, if you see Queen at Live Aid that's the old Wembley Stadium), which is 80 000 or something like that. 20:25 well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, she already was part of the entertainment industry, she used to do modeling as a kid and kid acting in commercials and movies, but she changed career to become an idol. I think Yuimetal might have had problems with jetlag, we only see sleepy Yuimetal on other continents. Not in Japan. 31:45 Amuse is a talent agency, are you trying to make a movie or TV show or want some music group to exist ? Amuse will create one for you or give you the people you need to get it done. The people in the front, but also have partners they regularly work with for lighting, stage building, choreographer, camera people, editors, etc. Not Band-maid, but Amuse has some of their own artists as well which includes One-Ok-Rock and Babymetal. They are definitely not rock-exclusive. Some have tried to do kawaii metal, but none with such a success (part of the success of Babymetal is Kobametal, the girls' talent and being 'first'). At least one act did something similar as Babymetal at around the same time (some are grouped together under the banner of 'alt-idol'), so maybe without Babymetal some kawaii metal-like groups would have existed regardless. The girls didn't know about metal music, because they were just 11 and 12 at the time when Babymetal got started. Most kids around the world before that age have no idea what metal is. Kami band is a live performance band, recording is done with other session musicians, anyone who bests fits the song(part) best. Then the Kami band have to figure out how to perform it best live. Their is something to having live music performances compared to just having the girls perform to a backing track. It gives shows a different feel. It's also what allowed Babymetal to break into the metal/rock scene abroad, by performing at festivals, etc. Without that they probably wouldn't have been accepted. 41:50 The whole Fox God back story, etc. only came to be after the girls tried to make the regular metal sign, but said it looks like a Fox and everything grew from there. 44:01 the crucifixtion in Babymetal means 'rebirth', and rebirth is a trope used in Japanese manga/anime to symbolize when they've reached a new level. So it's not used completely arbitrarily, using at at for example Tokyo Dome means Babymetal has reached a new level. Because it was their biggest show ever. 44:56 Babymetal was a sub-group of Sakura Gakuin, so it was their first song, they were the heavy music club in SG. 47:05 yes, Budokan in Tokyo is legandary, like Madison Square Garden and Wembley Arena, Babymetal has the record: youngest average age female group. The first band to perform at Budokan were The Beatles. The one who has the record of youngest to perform there as a person: Michael Jackson, when he was in the Jackson 5. 50:16 also supposedly sold the most merchandise. In 2015 Babymetal performed at Metrock festival in Tokyo, Japan, sort of the 'home town' of Babymetal. And the queue to buy merchandise was longer than all others combined. 51:48 some have claimed TV shows in the US and UK were competing to see who could get Babymetal on their show first, I don't know if this is true, but the buzz was very real. After that 52:23 Band-Maid isn't as big compared to Babymetal. Band-Maid might be on the US 'heatseaker chart' ones, but Babymetal is record breaker for Japan and even Asia for chart listing. Babymetal was highest ever for the whole of Asia on the US rock/metal chart, they got #1 for the third album. 54:54 Yuimetal isn't a quiter, so she probably kept pushing herself until she couldn't anymore. The best fan theory on the health problem is a back issue. Which would mean: touring with Babymetal is probably out of the question even long term, because back issues can easily return. 1:00:08 the comic was made in the US, so it is/was availble world wide. 1:01:18 my personal interpretation is: she will return to acting for movies, etc. 1:08:50 Riho was hiatus from the group he talked about, choreographer Mikiko has said it's important to having the ASH and SG 'DNA' so they can integrate. Mikiko was part of the founding of ASH as a dance teacher/choreographer as well, she is from Hiroshima.

I would like to add that the FOX GOD is not made up. He's real and he's older than Jesus. He's know for influencing mortal affairs. Good or bad. But good since he chose BABYMETAL. The accidental Fox sign- it's funny because if you study him a bit, you'll see that influencing them to use the sign is exactly the kind of thing he is known for. Riho had graduated from here group but was still signed to Hello Project. Her hiatus was probably her sitting out her contract. She toured the world for a couple years including one studying dance in NYC. Just like Mikiko did. Her own music is well worth a look. I often listen to her first 2 EPs. Her 3rd is kinda K-popish, not my genre.

@@jefffromchicago6321 as I understood is, the 'Fox God' is something which didn't exist, what existed was the goddess Inari's fox messengers. Obviously the foxes are spirits as well, so the word kami could be used to refer to them which at times gets translated as gods, but I don't think they are the same in this case. The God in the western sense is Iranri, not the foxes.
@jefffromchicago6321
@jefffromchicago6321 Жыл бұрын
@@autohmae That's true but you have to read more. I just re-read something. It will vary from region to region and the budists used a fox also. So therre are many correct interpretations. Search wiki Kitsune. Under- portrayal. Under- servants of Inari. "Okami may be depicted as a fox" "Entire shrines are dedicated to Kitsune"(singular) Search wiki- Inari Okami Under depiction "Because of their close association with Kitsune, Inari is often believed to be a fox" So I think that BABYMETAL adopted the belief/ or was influenced by the BigFox who has little foxes as messengers. Which is mixing two sets of beliefs. But that's OK. Christianity was based of of Judism and has many pagan influences .

The Kami band does not participate in studio recording primarily because of a lack of budget. BABYMETAL, which exhausts its ticket revenue with spectacular sets and production every time, does not have the budget to hold their busy session musicians for months at a time. This is the Japanese system. The Western value system gives too much of the proceeds back to the fans. Therefore, KOBAMETAL alone decides the direction of BABYMETAL's music and sound design, and it is enough for him to invite session musicians to play one part in the studio according to his concept. I think KOBAMETAL is a genius in the mold of Brian Wilson or Jeff Lynne.

I always enjoy watching Su dancing when she was younger. She looked awkward and almost uncomfortable because of her almost gangly arms and legs. It was really cute. But no matter what, Su always put her whole heart and soul into everything she did which is why she always ended up mastering everything. If you see the way she danced then versus now, its like a totally different person. To me her dancing is the biggest change. Although I don't know if "awkward" is the right word to have used, maybe "clumsy"...I don't know, but I DO know the rest of the fans know what I mean, maybe somebody has a better word for it. Regardless, TYLR , if/when you watch the Sakura Gakuin stuff you can IMMEDIATELY find Su easily because of her dancing. It is so OBVIOUS. It's adorable. Lastly, when you finally start doing the Sakura Gakuin stuff, I'd HIGHLY recommend watching the Nendo tests they partake in during their schooling there. They aren't singing or dancing, but they are tests performed by one of the teachers and they are very funny and cute to watch. I can guarantee you'll enjoy them, after all, I haven't let you down yet hahaha :) Anyhow, I just saw you just did Megitsune, so I'm heading over to watch that now!

I'm pretty sure that Mikiko is an independent professional artist/choreographer and is not handled by Amuse. Rather Mikiko is hired on a consulting or contract basis. I would not be surprised if she was on a retainer basis. Mikiko does work with other agencies and production companies. She did a session once teaching 3 members of Morning Musume, a group belonging to Amuse competitor Hello! Project, the choreography to Purfume's Cling Cling. Interestingly, one of those three MM members was Riho Sayashi.

Suzuka Nakamoto = 'Suh-Zoo-Kuh' 'Nahh-Kuh-Moto'. Sakura 'Gah-coo-een' or Cherry Blossom Academy. Dont worry about the language, Japanese is considered one of, perhaps THE, hardest language for English speakers to learn. Just as American English is pretty much the hardest for natural Japanese speakers (or most non English speakers in general) Amuse is an Entertainment management company/Talent agency mostly but also produce tv/movies, produce the music of the groups they manage, merch ownership, etc... Have 'Training Schools' like the one Su and her sister (and Riho Sayashi) went to ASH (Actors School Hiroshima) Have theaters for shows/musicals. They own a part of the wrestling company New Japan Pro Wrestling (basically the WWE or AEW of Japan) Sort of a mini multi-media conglomerate. Budokan is a place where if you play there you've pretty much made it in Japan. It's the place where the biggest bands go to. It's, maybe not the equivalent of Madison Square Garden, but it's in that realm of prestige. Tokyo Dome would probably be the equivalent of MSG probably. FAR bigger but name wise. The book/graphic novel is on Amazon for, as of this post, $22.99 US When Riho was an idol she was far bigger than BM, in Japan at least. Why so many people were shocked that when she finally came back to the music world she took a step down basically. From lead singer/dancer or an 'ACE' to a backup dancer who didnt have a mic or perform in every show. These vids are always a fun watch because you have so much info to digest and see just how far they have come.

9:18 so seem to have misunderstood something: the girls that were in SG in 2021, were not the same that started! When a girl reached 15yo, they "graduated" and left the group, going on to do other stuff, while new girls came in usually aged between 10-13. It would be awesome to check something from them! I would suggest seeing first the Mini Pati song with Moa and Yui, "Miracle Patiful Burger", the snippet you said it was cute! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e9SGZcmklcq2cqs.html 11:45 yes please! Karen Girls were amazing! :D "Over the Future" it's their most famous song! 14:44 yes, you are right! Kawaii is the Japanese definition with cute, with absolutely no sexual meaning. Just cute! 24:00 Here you go, Yui dream come true singing the song with SU kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdiiZtyh0ce4nJs.html Maybe you could do a double reaction, the original version and then this cover song by Babymetal! 27:27 She said that the best thing about the american food is the quantity xD Because portions are so much bigger than what she is used to in Japan 🤣 28:45 it's hard to notice it if you don't know it, but sometimes during GImme Chocolate, Moa pinches SU's ears :D 31:40 Amuse is not only Rock/Metal. Actually their biggest group is "Perfume", a Pop Group. They have signed "Asterism" that's another metal band though. 36:23 You might have missed that in the slide, but Mikiko is a really acknowledge choreographer: she was appointed into the planning committee of the 2020 Summer Olympics opening and closing cerimonies, but had to withdraw due to the simplifications that happened due to COVID 38:40 Yes, you are right: the musicians in the studio versions of the songs are not always credited. Sometimes they are the Kami Band members, sometimes they are not. Sometimes they have collaborations, like in "Road of Resistance" they have Herman Li and Sam Totman from Dragonforce on the guitars, and in "Brand New Day" they have Tim Henson and Scott LePage from Polyphia. Having to use the same musicians in every song would be limiting, so he chooses different musicians for different songs :) Kobametal himself said he played the Guitar in the studio version of "Iine" :) 42:40 that was "Babymetal Death" at Tokyo Dome in 2016, but that time they weren't sacrificed at the end, but they entered on a cross at the same time at the beginning of the song, just as a cool way to enter the stage :D 1:10:40 Kano and Momoko where in Sakura Gakuin yes, but not at the same time as Yui, SU and Moa! BM girls had all already graduated when Kano and Momoko entered SG 1:12:10 yes, she has now done more than the last 30+ shows, and if someone would become the third member, most people thinks it should be Momoko! 1:15:17 the meaning was that they simply released a new version of the song "The One - Stairway to Living Legends" as a way to announce they were going on hiatus and not tour because of the pandemic! This weekend BabyMetal had their first 2 shows again after the 2021 Budokan shows!

Really appreciate you did the guide, specially the longer one. 👍‍ Of course you want to watch SG stuff, and Karen Girls... you are going to be really busy. 😁 The guide ends in April 2021. They went on hiatus and returned and just had their first two concerts. And the cool thing is that the history is being written as we speak. Next step: two more back to back concerts in Kanagawa on April 1st and 2md. And this is where the speculation begins. Apparently they are going to name a third permanent member there. Kanagawa is the prefecture of both Yui and Momoko (although Momoko was born in Fukuoka and her family moved to Kanagawa when she was 3yo). In my opinion it's going to be Momoko. And not only she totally deserves it, but, at this point, it also honors Yui's old position... as long they give her a mic! End of speculation. 😎 Until next time!

There is too many Sakura clips/videos to recommend any specifics as I think they all are worth watching (especially the graduation performances & Nendo tests) for those who haven't been deterred from this depth of the fox hole. I'd just recommend starting with the oldest stuff and work your way forward. Definitely save the Nendo tests for last like icing on a cake.

SG rotated new kids out over the 11 years. No kid stayed more then 3 years before they "graduated" The 2 of the 3 avengers are SG girls. Also recently shown at the recent BM concert over the weekend showed Chibi Babymetal which features another 2 recent SG graduates.

@vereta6555 Yui and Moa were there at the beginning of SG, officially coming in as transfers. They graduated in 2015, so they were in SG for 5 years. Many other members for there for 5-6 years. Kano Fujihira (Avenger) and Soyoka Yoshida (both part of at onefive) were in SG for 6 years, being the two longest.

The saddest thing is that there is no information about Yui so far. Not a single photo or video in recent years. People just want to know if she's doing well, even if she's not part of Babymetal

The Kami band situation is just like any solo artist anywhere. Studio musicians do the work on the album and an entirely different band plays it live...Generally studio musicians don`t do any touring...Budokan IS in fact legendary. MANY western bands play there when they tour Japan. Just to be clear, they played Wembley ARENA, not Wembley STADIUM. BIG difference...Momoko IS officially now a member...AND just for fun...I was at the LA Forum show. It was INSANE! 🤘

Good reaction! The studio albums use different musicians because the Kami Band often might not be available due to having other commitments. Plus in quite a few BABYMETAL studio tracks the drums are programmed. Here are the links for the Karen Girls song "Over the Future" (Original KG version): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdqeZbhzkrebgKs.html (BM version): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdiiZtyh0ce4nJs.html You should do a double comparison reaction video! :)

Karen girls over the future is easy to find - there's even one that covers the original, then yui & moa using it together , and finally a babymetal conversion (I love that version 😁). There's a LOT of great Sakura Gakuin out there btw - you can pretty much drown in it (tears in some cases 😉) , but DEFINTELY worth a look imo. You'll also see a lot of other really talented and entertaining girls there too.

OK, I see many facts and information about things BABYMETAL. But there are things I want to share also that don't seem to be well known. As you fall into the depths of the foxhole the Japanese promotions of BABYMETAL, before they went big were fun. Su, Yui and Moa all helped in the promotion of BABYMETAL. Talk shows, game shows and being mentioned on the national news a few times. I kind of miss that stuff. My fascination with BABYMETAL started in 2015 with of course "Gimme Chocolate." I will jump around a bit but things you may want to know will start here. Budokan is a venue in Japan where you can only perform if you have been invited. One of the best selling "live albums" in America was recorded here. "Cheap Trick Live at Budokan" was huge! I'm going to start with YuiMetal here. Remember privacy is a big thing in Japan so personal things are tough to find. Mizuno Yui is the middle child in her family. She has an older and younger brothers. And there are video clips of Yui as young as 6 years old. When Yui left BABYMETAL there were some nasty rumors going around about why. I'll choose not to share them. Yui is still employed by Amuse Inc. but nothing, I mean really nothing has been shared since she left. Not even a public photo. I was a big fan of Yui so I miss knowing anything about her now. I had always hoped that if Yui was to be replaced that Saki Ooga would be the one to fit the best. MoaMetal, or Kikuchi Moa or "super Moa-chan" was also a child model for Caio Girls. I think this is a girls clothing line but not really sure. Moa was an only child so her gravitation towards many of the members of SG was a natural thing. Moa and Yui were inseparable since the beginning. And Suzuka was her "big sister." Now for Su, SuMetal, Su-Metal, Nakamoto Suzuka and or "the Queen of Metal." Su is the youngest of three girls. Nothing is known about her oldest sister. I don't even know if her name has ever been mentioned. But Nakamoto Himeka or Himetan who is mentioned to sing and perform with Su as "Tween" is also famous in Japan. As a original member of Nogizaka46 an idol j-pop group. Nogizaka46 is huge on the pop charts to this day. Her famous "Himetan beam" is her trademark move. She was quite talented also. She has since graduated from Nogizaka46 and because she was a smart girl she went onto college and is now a mental health counselor, her specialty is counseling idols. Other odd stuff I've heard or seen. I seen a video of a bunch of idols, Himeka being one of them, on a talk show with a popular Japanese comedian. I don't speak Japanese and there were no sub titles so I have to guess what is being said. Somewhere along in this video the comedian was asked what music he liked to listen too. He said, "BABYMETAL." Then things got interesting. Some of the idols pointed to Himeka and said, "Oni-chan!" Now I know that oni-chan means sibling in Japanese. The comedian was so surprised he had to shake hands with Su's sister! He was so happy that he had met Su's sister! I also heard that when Su was young her mother would scold her for singing to loudly in their home. Just a random tidbit I heard. I would like to see Himeka join her sister Su on stage someday. Weather she would perform with her or not, it would be kind of cool. One other tidbit that I really liked is when BABYMETAL (Su and Moa) met the members of Keyakizaka46 before the big New Years Eve show in Japan. I forget the name of the show but I am a big fan of Keyakizaka46 too. That was so cool for me. Well that's enough. I hope I am right about these things I've shared. Most of the time I look to Rick Wagner and Grington300300 for good info on BABYMETAL. I hope that I knew a few things they didn't know.

Suzuka said that her sister played guitar. That doesn't seem to be Himeka. I read a comment once that said the older sister was in a band that didn't make it. I have no idea if this is true. Their father was in a band but had to leave to work. Look up The Holligans- U- Soldier . On KZfaq. The show you talk about used to be translated on another platform. They were talking about Hiroshima and the MC said that a lot of performers came from there. The comedian said that BABYMETAL was from there. Mya Wada says " this is her sister". The comedian got excited and shook her hand. Himeka tried to go back to the subject and says " we were talking about Hiroshima, we are also from there"- pointing to Mya Wada who is also from there. The comedian got excited again and shook her hand repeating "Su-Metals sister ". A girl from another group said that that was the most excited he's been the whole show. He asks if there's anyone else that has a sibling performing (his brother is also a comedian). No one answered. He said you're no fun. That new years show is called Kohaku and it's on NHK broadcasting.
@johnschultz7765
@johnschultz7765 Жыл бұрын
@@jefffromchicago6321 , The comedian's excitement was on a couple of levels. He alluded to his younger brother, also a comedian, who has perhaps been more popular. Implying a similarity between himself and Himetan in both having a younger sibling potentially outshining them. Hence, his question about anyone else having a (implied famous) sibling. And none speaking up he declares them useless.

Kawaii means cute. But more than that. Kawaii was a cultural revolution in Japan. So it also means innovation and rebellion. I watched a video about the meaning of Kawaii. It's a lengthy subject. It usually just means cute but i don't think that is the case with Kawaii Metal.

Definitely react to Over The Future, the Karin Girls song from the beginning of this video. It's a very important song in BABYMETAL history and a cool backstory to it. BUT make sure when you do react to this song you need to do all 3 versions together, Su's karin Girl version, Moa and Yui's audition and then BM's version. BABYMETAL FOREVER 🤘🤘🤘 All hail The Fox God

No. Japanese names didn't just get "u" letter silenced. Maybe you mistakenly silence the letter "u" because of "Babymetal desu" thing. This rule only applies to few words, and people names certainly didn't follow this rule. Same thing with "Akatsuki". It's not pronounced Akatski just because Su shout it a bit fast a few times. ✌️
