I haven’t seen any one’s reactions mention it, but when Kim Petra’s enters in verse two 7:33 , the melody is actually a play on the chorus from “More” but manipulated to fit the dark tones of the song.

The "tease" you brought up at the beginning of the song is very reminiscent to Evelynn's character as she lures people in with lust before brutally murdering them.

The song really is a perfect fit for Evelynn if you know anything about her character lore. Like you said those high "innocent" notes in the beginning were a complete tease and didn't really show up in the rest of the song. So that would be your first impression while she's drawing you in. Then when you notice the dark base took over and then the high and innocent notes turned into those creepy modern uneasy ones. That's where she's more or less got you, and you're uncovering her true nature. So, like you said, the second hook where you've made your discovery she seems to be enjoying it more, as it seems to get gradually more lively as the song comes to an end, because shes getting excited to end her hunt.

I loved this song. You're right in that it doesn't have an as energetic hook as the other K/DA songs, but that's what I love about it frankly. The song is titled VILLAIN and, along with the music video, it manages to truly communicate the meaning of the song and of the character of Evelyn. I'm a huge fan of score music for this reason; it communicates a feeling or story. I find that most pop music focuses the most on being an effective pop song, so VILLAIN felt like a breath of fresh air for me.

Hey Joey, I just wanted to let you know your videos bring light to my day. I visit your channel daily as a little pick me up because you're so enthusiastic about what you do. It's really nice to see you pick up on little layers/details that the producers put in because I can relate to appreciating the time, effort and love for your craft and it's really nice seeing you appreciate that from other people because you understand what goes into it. And I really want to thank you for asking how we're doing. I know I'm just replying to a video but I haven't heard anyone ask how I'm doing in a good while and honestly I just needed that. I'm doing personal work as a game artist/game dev with a small team of 4 and that takes up all of my free time. It's been really nice to have a project to really sink my teeth into and get excited about but on top of that I work at an Amazon sortation facility to get some money in the bank after losing my other job I loved due to Covid. For the last month or so I've been working at that job 6 days in 1 day off 8 hrs per day, waking up at 5:30am for my shift at 7am, then working until 10pm on my game when I get home. It has just been a lot. I can feel my sense of time shortening as the months turn into weeks and all of the days blend together and I'm just try to make it through to my day off. But even then my day off is usually packed with doing things for my family. It's just been a lot lately but I'm invested in my future and I know it will stand me in good stead. Money in the bank after Christmas and a potential takeoff of the game once it's done. I just need to grit my teeth and bare it for a little while longer and orient myself for progression when the season inevitably ends. Anyway, I'm done moaning. Genuinely, how are you doing?

There's nothing high or plucky about this song! I feel teased. haha On the real though Villain is an amazing production that really captures the truth behind Evelyn as a demon of agony who thrives off of seducing people and then flaying them alive for fun. Also in some parts of the video she stands or moves in some rather unnatural ways despite having a human form which belies how she's a bit of a shape shifter and this isn't really her true form just the one she likes to show you.
