Why? For the love of all things, WHY!?!? Songtrust... why did you stop short? Why do we need you for one thing. And ASCAP for another. And Sound Exchange for another? WHY? Why didn't you just go "Hey, we go find it all. We get it all. And if they create a new form of Royalty, we'll go get that as well." Why is literally EVERYONE doing this, doing this wrong? Even the new guys saying "Yeah, those societies are old and archaic", are just filling the niches those old and archaic Societies are missing. Just... DO IT ALL. Be a ROYALTY COMPANY. Is it a Royalty Type? Yeah, we collect that. Be that company. That's the company we want. That's the company every single one of us is looking for. Do what BMI does, do what ASCAP does... get us those Performance Royalties. Do what Sound Exchange does, get us those Non-Interactive Streaming Royalties. Do what Song Trust does, get us those KZfaq and Foreign Mechanical Royalties. Do what CreatMusicGroup does, get us those Micro Syncs. And who ever gets us those Sync Royalties for TV/Movies, do that to. Why isn't some one doing the WHOLE JOB? It's a whole Industry. I don't understand it. Every day it's some one saying "Hey, this is new and your guys don't collect it... we collect it." Instead of saying "Hey, this is new and your guys don't collect it... we collect EVERYTHING". When is some one going to get smart, and lock the WHOLE GAME DOWN?

I wanted to point out that only in the North American market such as the (U.S and Canada) that Record Companies and independent Artist's have to manually payout the 9.1 cent Mechanical Royalties to Songwriters/Composers and Publishers either directly to them or to (Harry Fox) and Music Reports. Mechanical royalties collected from forigen territories like Africa, Europe or Asia etc, Songtrust like any other Music Publishing Company (e.g Kobalt, Sony/ATV) collects the Mechanicals directly from the foreign collection agency's such as their PROs and Mechanical licensing collection agency's like ours here in the U.S. Artists that uses Tunecore, Distrokid or CD Baby can either pay the Mechanicals directly to the Composer or Songwriter or they can account and send mechanical royalty payments to Songtrust licensing department at licensing@songtrust.com. That's basically what that *Controlled Compostion* clause is for found in Beat Licensing Agreements as that's technically a Mechanical License in exchange for Mechanical royalties to grant an Artist to use the Copywritten musical works.

Please explain me the below state ment please please....... . . Controlled Compositions: If any selection or musical composition, or any portion thereof, recorded in the Masters hereunder is written or composed by Producer, in whole or in part, alone or in collaboration with others, or is owned or controlled, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by Producer or any person, firm, or corporation in which Producer has a direct or indirect interest, then such selection and/or musical composition shall be hereinafter referred to as a "Controlled Composition". Producer hereby agrees to issue or cause to be issued, as applicable, to Artist, or Artist's designees, mechanical licenses (including, without limitation, any "first use" mechanical licenses) and other licenses in respect of each Controlled Composition subject to the same terms and conditions as are applicable to selections and musical compositions written, composed, owned, or controlled, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by Artist, which are embodied on the Master or any recording recorded under this agreement. For that license, on the United States and Canada sales, Artist will pay mechanical royalties at one hundred percent (100%) of the minimum statutory rate, subject to no cap of that rate for albums and/or EPs. For license outside the United States and Canada, the mechanical royalty rate will be the rate prevailing on an industry-wide basis in the country concerned on the date that this agreement has been entered into. Producer hereby grants Artist a license to reproduce Controlled Compositions that are embodied on the Master produced hereunder in synchronization with and in time relation to visual images featuring Artist's performances in so-called promotional "video programs", on a royalty-free basis and in so-called commercial "video programs", in being understood that Producer shall be entitled to Producer's pro-rata share of any royalties attributable to such commercial "video programs". Upon Artist's request Producer shall execute or cause Producer's publishing designee to execute and deliver to Artist, as applicable, all documents required by Artist, as applicable, to effectuate the purpose of this paragraph.

need help I hope someone can answer this question and clarify some confusion.. Im sure someone else has this same question. Let me explain..So there's this beat I found non exclusive/basic license mp3/wav file. I read the license and understand most areas. In this beat they allow me for music recording, # online audio streams, distribute up to # copies, for profit live performances, and 1 music video, and finally says (0) radio broadcasting rights. In this beat cool thing is producer and I own 50/50 of writers share and publisher share. Now, my confusion is the radio broadcasting rights.. how come 0? is it due to the content ID? I know that terrestrial is traditional radio AM/FM and the satellite radio is like Sirius XM, are there any other satellite radio companies?. Does that mean that I can't put my music in Pandora? Apple Music? or Spotify? iHeart radio? Also, for the part "licensee may perform the song publicly for profit performances" does that mean unlimited as well? it didn't say a specific # when you perform you report it to your PRO BMI/ASCAP/SESAC etc ? I'm just curious to know that way I understand fully the license terms/agreement. **See below that area of the license.** Thank you :) ------ "The New Song may be used for any promotional purposes, including but not limited to, a release in a single format, for inclusion in a mixtape or free compilation of music bundled together (EP or album), and/or promotional, non-monetized digital streaming; Licensee may perform the song publicly for-profit performances and for an Unlimited non-profit performances, including but not limited to, at a live performance (i.e. concert, festival, nightclub etc.), on terrestrial or satellite radio, and/or on the internet via third-party streaming services (Spotify, KZfaq, iTunes Radio etc.). The New Song may be played on 0 terrestrial or satellite radio stations;

I'm a little confused and was wondering if anyone can help me. If a song is created by a band trio, do all three members of the band sign up with ASCAP or BMI? Or should all three members have their own publishing company? For example, my band has three independently released albums in the last decade, but they're all registered under the singer's publishing company he made up called Resonant Music. I never questioned it as I told him it was ok to put under his since I didn't have one and wasn't sure how it worked. Is there anything wrong in this situation? Should all three of us (drummer and bassist as well) have created our own "publishing companies" and also registered the same songs under ours? Or should we all just use the one company "Resonant Music"? Does it allow you to split up between multiple people even if you use one single company name on ASCAP or BMI? All of our releases are through Tunecore which pays to one account anyway which we all share. So far our band has made very little in streams or sales so there hasn't been any kind of issue at all. Please someone help me with this if you happen to know this type of situation! Thank you for your time!

I've a question regarding micro-sync royalties: when an artist monetize the new song (or video) on KZfaq, it's getting paid by Google AdSense for the ad revenue, right? But if I (the producer) want to earn money from that same video I'd have to get it through micro-sync royalties which are related to the songwriting of the beat?
@emgodas

Just make it simple for the artist, whatever money you make with the song you will do with my beat. I want 50% of it, let's say artist makes 10.000 from lives, since the beat and the vocals are 50%-50% you'll get 50% of the profit so 5.000. same thing with every royalty. Easy peasy

I just need to know how many royalties do I owe to a producer, if the contract states that the writers share is split 50/50 between me and the produer. but the producer owns and controls 100% of the publishers share. What does this mean for me? what percentage of royalites accumulated on distrokid for example, would I owe to the producer? any information would be a great help, thanks!

@GoGetItOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
@@ayi2492 the best way that makes sense to me from info I've obtained is, the writers share of the producer is 50% and publishing would be 50% as well for him for BMI because BMI song registry is a 200% system... split in half for writer/producers/composer share which are all in the same and the the other 100% for publishing. So the producer would get 100% and you would get 100% as well. Stop by and subscrine to our channel if you will PEACE

Can you collect mechanical royalties from offering free downloads? Do you get that mechanical royalty for each song or each download of the song?
@DJPain1
