In 1979 René Clemencic published a large volume of over 200 pages dedicated to Carmina Burana, full of information regarding the lyrics, the lyrics and the music. The publication was signed by Clemencic and Müller, but was edited by Michael Korth. Korth was born in 1946, a German musician and researcher of medieval traditions. He founded an early music group dedicated to German folklore in 1975: Bären Gässlin. With this musical project he released around five albums for Dortmund's Plane Records, a label linked to the German Communist Party, and later for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
Bären Gässlin were a musical group linked to the movement, born at the end of the '60s, called Early Music Revival: a very interesting and overwhelming musical wave that linked folk to medieval music, giving rise to revisitations and rediscoveries of very important artistic-cultural heritages . This is only the first of some Bären Gässlin albums that I will present to you soon, and among them there is obviously their version of Carmina burana, but I decided to start with this album dedicated entirely to the work of the Tyrolean poet Oswald Von Wolkenstain, the most famous of the Minnesänger. Their interpretation is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and credible I have ever heard together with that of Eberhard Kummer.
I wish you happy listening!

ps: Finding detailed information on Bären Gässlin was not easy, thanks to professor Davide Daolmi and his recent publication "Carmina Burana, a double revolution" which I recommend to anyone who knows Italian because it is, at the moment, the most updated and complete research on Codex Buranus. cutt.ly/vw0YLnxD
