with regards to her singing with so much "powderyness", she's rapping here. Imagine how abrasive and aggressive this otherwise dreamy song would sound with full voice? Its beautiful and she blesses us with one of her highest belts ever "recorded" at the end. when Mariah sings soft like this, you have to listen to her lyrics, its why she pulls back all the extra singing she does. Because when you're not distracted by acrobatics, you get to understand what she's saying and how she wants to get her message across, and you feel her emotions.

Music Game News yes it was haha, how amazing is she 🤣❤️😍 Btw Ovela that double voice you’re talking about is actually real. Because of her nodules she has moments where her voice produces two different notes at the same time, it’s called Polyphonic or Overtone singing 👍 it’s not present in the songs or videos you have reacted to but there’s several instances where she had done it live and on studio. Of course she doesn’t do them on purpose 👍

She can switch from her soft voice to her full voice immediately just like how she can transit from her chest register to head voice and to whistle register in one breath. I guess she has full control of her registers and vocal textures.

Hey guys can you please react to mariah carey i dont wanna cry at tokyo dome 1996 and underneath the stars.... also this peformance wasnt lipped she just used the backing vocals/ harmonies from the track, but sang live the main vocals... the whistle were also 100% live.

It’s not even lip sync I can tell from the recording to the live performance. She has a lot of voices. Mariah is a MUSIC, HARMONY and an INSTRUMENT herself. Believe me, compare the audio to this live performance, truly is and legit, LIVE.

I discovered this song of Mariah's only 6 days ago, became obsessed, found this live performance (which happened to be an intimate concert which are my favorite performances), and then found that MGN did a reaction video of it only 4 months ago. So these are the exact kind of unknown performances by Mariah that need to brought out of the woodwork and shown to people.

I loved her charm bracelet album. Her singing in falsetto sets her apart from artists. She changes up a lot of notes from the original version which I love. Her whistle mimics the keyboard in the original version. Love this version of her whistle. Beyoncé can’t even do that 😂

Yup she has a interlude called Angels (Prelude) which is JUST her whistles and it's beautiful. She also has another song called Bliss with an all whistle chorus.

There is a song on her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album called Angels(prelude) that is just her singing in nothing but whistle notes. She builds an entire song just in that register. You guys heard some of it when you reacted to the Empress of the Whistle Register video.
