Frank Zappa like George Carlin are two of the best American philosophers this country has ever produced in modern times. Both of them predicted exactly the hell we are in now before they died. The forethought of this man (a musician) is chilling.

@@sealttwo-013 frank had no musical degrees, he took one course in composition at a junior college in pomona. he spent a lot of time in libraries studying music tech. he liked webern, stravinski, and especially electronic composer Edgard Varese. He was also fearless. He went up against the entire Senate during the mid 80's PMRC rating rock records debate. He excoriated Sen. Paula Hawkins at the hearing. Rachel Maddow even played Zappa making Sen. Hawkins look foolish. She muttered something like " I'd be interested in the type of toys your children have" Frank forcefully responded; "WHY WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED?" Hawkins stammered, and Frank simply said; "Well come over to the house. I'll show 'em to yah"

I've never been a big Frank Zappa music fan, so I don't know very much about him, but he hit the nail directly on the head in this interview. Very insightful. I am an unpopular Christian, and I am ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED ON A DAILY BASIS at how the right twists the entire point of the message Jesus was trying to send about everyone including everyone, and everyone taking care of each other, into their own narrative of HATRED, DISCRIMINATION, and VIOLENCE. The leaders EXPLOIT "Christianity" in order to appeal to their base, and while they have their attention, they FEAR-MONGER THEM into a HATE-FILLED version of "Christianity" that I don't even recognize.

His lyrics on the other hand could be incredibly sexist, scatologic, misogynistic, misanthropic, homophobic, puerile, infantile you name it and Frank's got it covered. His "humor"as it existed in his stage show and on songs like"Jewish Princess" "Dinah-Moe Humm" "Broken Hearts Are For A-Holes" "Find Her Finer" or wearing blackface on the cover of "Joe's Garage" could not exist in 2024 as Zappa would likely be burned at the stake by putrid social media. As a fan of his none of this troubles me.I don't care. My old mentor was an old Christian prophet from New Zealand (he passed on in 2014) who told me one time that the Lord took him to heaven in a vision, and he said that one thing that surprised him the most was that there were people there who he was sure would never make it, and there were a lot of people who he was sure would be there but weren't. He said that the Holy Spirit gave him a tour of different parts of heaven. I asked him how long he was there and he said it seemed like it was almost a month, but in real time the vision probably lasted for no more than five minutes. There are a lot of Christians who are sure that Frank Zappa is in hell, but one thing I can think of that might turn that idea upside down is the fact that he loved the truth, and Jesus said "I am the truth." And conversely, there are millions of professing Christians who hate the truth about many things, especially when it comes to politics.

Well you can go ahead and add 95% of the politicians to that list.

@KAT-dg6el So you're essentially saying that 95% of politicians in the West, are as dishonest, disreputable, disrespectful, scurrilous, creepy, needy, insecure, vengeful, infantile, prickly, bitter and overall repulsive as Donald Trump? If you are serious, then provide your evidence. Name all the middle range politicians who work hard for the voters, yet you've discovered are 100% rotten. Name 20 of them. You can't, can you because you know absolutely nothing about politics?

My favourite Zappa track taking a jibe at religion is Dumb All Over on You Are What You Is. Sums it all up perfectly.

Pat Robertson is to faith what Ted Bundy is to men. Robertson doesn't even believe what he's saying ffs. Frank Zappa was considered a weird guy but he was a pretty smart guy.

I miss George Carlin, Robin Williams and Frank Zappa. If they were alive today, they'd have no end to material which they'd unfailingly craft into brilliant indictments!!
