FYI, that Flamengo guitar solo at the end is played by Papa Gates (Syn's Father) at the first part, then Syn played at the second part, and then they played togheter for the rest.

Papa Gates also makes a few appearances in other A7X songs after City of Evil. Can't remember which ones off the top of my head. I think one was a B-side song and one was on The Stage.

This album fuckin rules, no weak songs and the guitar work is stellar, city of evil and waking the fallen are both great front to back with no skips. The wicked end from the same record is awesome, killer guitar work. “Save me” is also a must, maybe their magnum opus song

The most underrated A7X song. They've never played it live, basically for the reasons you said with how weird and hard the transitions are but it's definitely one of their more unique songs ever just with the fast acoustic second half and piano fills, it's really not similar to any other A7X song imo

This was the album that introduced me to A7X.. I used to play Burnout Revenge and Beast and the Harlot was part of the soundtrack. Home internet access was just becoming a thing here in Mexico, so I would search for this album on Limewire and Ares and spent HOURS downloading each song. Then I got in love with M.I.A. and Strenght of the World. Betrayed, Sidewinder, Blinded in Chains, The Wicked End.. THERE IS NOT A SINGLE BAD SONG IN THIS WHOLE ALBUM. Ever since then, I've been a MASSIVE fan of these guys. I know there are way more complex, more famous or more technical bands out there, but for me A7X will foREVer be the BEST band ever. 🦇💀👑

The best part about this entire album is I loved all the big songs shortly after it came out, then over the years grew to love the non singles far more than those big songs. I've had this exact same turn around. My intro to A7X was hearing bat country on the radio when I was kindergarten age. As a teen, I loved Afterlife and Beast and the Harlot. As an adult, I've grown to love every deep cut on every album and I don't listen to the hits near as often (although they're always on the playlist because they're all great songs)

The new album threw me off at first w/ how much they crossed genres in it, but after a few listens, I’m diggin how it sounds. U can definitely hear Gates leaning into his jazz fusion background on several songs. A couple also have some Sinatra influences as well.
