Bob Seger: The Man.

I saw Bob Seger on the Night Moves tour and he was opening for Kiss. From the moment he hit the stage everyone were on their feet. Of course Kiss took a long time before they hit the stage. Had to let the excitement of Bob Seger wear off a bit.

I am 70 and grew up in Michigan. Bob Seger had a bunch of local hits long before Katmandu. He was a giant in Detroit Music. Well before Silver bullet band we used to see Seger in various venues, and you never ever sat down until he was done playing

That's the Bob Seger I always imagined him to be. wonderful to hear that my assumptions line up with reality! great guy and an unbelievable amount of great music!

We seen Bob Seger in Greenville and Clemson Everytime He Came Close Enough To Go. Always a good concert

Lucky enough to see Bob Seager early 80s , a few more times later and then right at the end of his career. Unlike a lot of other seasoned singers his voice was still great. Fond memories for sure

I have been to a ton of concerts. I saw Bob Seger at Madison Garden. I have never seen an audience respond the way they did to Old Time Rock and Roll. The whole place was literally rocking. It is just THAT song.

Love Bob Seger. I really liked what he did with Glenn Fry back in the day, helped bring the Eagles to Stardom. I didn't know that Seger was as involved with the Swampers as these clips highlight. I'm probably most impressed with the overall history of what these guys did up in Muscle Shoals back in the day. I didn't know about Cher, Duane and the countless others who knew where to go to make the best recording. I was turned on to the Swampers when I heard the Lynyrd Skynrd vocals tooting the horn for the Swampers at Muscle Shoals on Sweet Home Alabama. I was blown away when I started researching it and found out just what the guys at Muscle Shoals had accomplished and I just love the story about all of it. When I was a kid, a buddy of mine and I would head up to north Alabama and hang out at Little River Canyon and jam with our acoustic guitars, we'd play the songs as best we could back then, had no idea that the studio was over in Muscle Shoals, if we had I know we'd have been at the back door of the control room peeking in and getting yelled at for doing so! I want to thank all the crew at Muscle Shoals for just being there when the world needed you to be and thank you for all the amazing music that rolled out of that studio over the years. I don't know if you guys know how big an impact you've made on the music scene. It certainly wouldn't be the same without you guys! I'm a southern boy by birth and a long time guitarist, I always loved the back stories of my favorite bands and recording studios. I'm also very fond of the Studio in the Country right outside Bogalusa, LA, about 30 miles from my location today, like Muscle Shoals a lot of quality famous records we produced there, would loved to have been a fly on the wall back then. The other small recording studio on my top list of 3 would be Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, TX where ZZ Top recorded their first and second albums.

They are all gone now, except Bob, Seger. And Little David HOOD. God Bless them all!

Bob Seger holds a special place in my heart. he is a true gentlemen and one of the best musicians I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.. I would probably even go as far as saying the entire state of Iowa loves Bob. ""On a long lonesome highway, east of Omaha"" I still live only a stones throw away from that highway. I-80.. and Bob is right.. thats a long extremely boring stretch of highway.. But my absolute favorite is hollywood nights, Sometimes I feel like Bob was writing about me, I was stationed in California, not far from Hollywood, ended up marrying this california dreaming drop dead gorgeous blond.. Sure enough, we were separated when it was time for me to come home.. It still makes the hair stand up on my arms,, even writing about it,,, the song couldnt be more accurate.. Seems like a lifetime ago... God bless all of you who created these songs. They truly help people get through life..

Im from Detroit , a big Seger fan and i didn't know any of this , damn good video !

First off, let me say how happy it makes me to know there are guys like you who took the time and are making the effort of putting down the history of the music that has been so important during my lifetime. You have provided so many incredible backstories which could have very easily fallen by the wayside, or worse, might have ended up fragmented and unclear causing endless debate among the so called self proclaimed "experts" of music history. Your presentations come straight from the participants own mouths. I'll always be grateful that you, for whatever reason, had the foresight to gather all of this incredible information from the people who lived and participated in so much of the history during this period of time. If I wouldn't have to commit so many crimes to do so, I would love to give you a home site next to the railroad tracks down in Sandy Hook, Tennessee that you could at least sell, but don't give up yet because I might win the lotto, providing you with needed resources and of course keep myself out of jail. Out of all the channels on U-Tube, yours is my favorite. I just can't thank you enough, yet, but I'm going to keep trying.

First of all ,well done , this is wonderful stuff .It is interesting hearing the guys talking about musician credits, I devoured the liner notes on albums when they finally got around to acknowledging the players . When I was at high school my band were learning the Wilson Pickett version of Land of 1,000 Dances , and Roger's iconic beats during the ' huhhh , Na , nananana ... 'bit really alluded my 15 year old brain . I always assumed it was a black guy propelling that irresistible feel , an Earl Palmer, a Clyde Stubblefield , I was almost shocked to find out the Swampers were all white chaps . I still love that record and mastering the syncopated kick push moved my drumming up a notch . Great hearing Mr Hawkins talking about his first kit , I started off with a basic Sonor kick and snare , but had Hi Hats as well , then the rack tom , then a floor tom ... My parents were resigned to it by then and my dad loaned me the money to buy a proper ride cymbal and bought me the stand to put it on . 70 now , still playing .

I knew Forrest (Howie) McDonald in high school. I had heard the wild tale that he played on Old Time Rock N Roll, but i never had any corroborating evidence till now and like they pointed out, he wasn't credited on the album. As you might expect, i don't think i have ever met anyone so confident and gung ho to be a successful musician as Forrest. He used to have a very tall Fender amp stack in the 60's that he needed a stool in front of so he could reach the top controls. Though at one time i doubted the story was true cos it sounded so fantastic, The Swampers have erased all doubt.

These amazing stories by the Swampers are golden Joe! I always knew that Seger was a class act & this video proves it in spades! Letting that kid at the back door come in to play is just over the top incredible. 👍👍👏👏😉😉

Very cool! I've never really thought about the ''false' piano intro x2 of 'Old Time Rock & Roll'. Yep ... the timing after riff 1 is odd but it fits perfectly. Reminds me of a pause going up the first hill of a rollercoaster... the empty space just kind of hangs a bit. Love it! Now we know the story behind it. Great interview!

My husband and I always hit the dance floor on "Old Time and Rock" every time whomever played it! Jerry and I loved these times and a lot of the other dancers gave the floor to us and everyone watched us! Great memories! Also we loved Alto Reed!

This song always takes me back to when I was a kid probably 10. My family would go to Greeco's Pizza in Bedford IN and my Brother and I would ALWAYS pick this song in the jukebox as one of our four for a quarter. Oh the memories it brings back I can NEVER forget that it is a part of my soul!!!!!
