I've seen Harry Connick Jr. manage 4 different rhythms at the same time; but he's especially good at it. He was singing (the voice is an instrument) while seated at the piano playing boogie woogie (both hands) as he worked the pedals with one foot and another instrument (I forget which) with the other foot. Four different beats. Made me dizzy to watch.

Dude splurge on an SE (Student Edition). I may be biased but pick up a used Custom 24 on Reverb/Ebay for $400-500. I was shocked how goodvit was with a Custom 24 I bought a Torero which features a Floyd Rose, Ebony fretboard (NO inlays), binding on the body and fretboard, and is mated with an EMG 81/85 set of pickups, I got an aqua one used for $600! I had a 1980 Les Paul Deluxe which I couldn't bare to keep when I got an offer of $2000 for it. Honestly my 2010 Custom 24 and my Torero sounded 90% and 95% as good as my LP, different tonally but "as good overall", so my Black Beauty went bye-bye!

Strangely, nobody here in the comments (that I've seen) has mentioned the groundbreaking work of Michael Hedges, perhaps the most innovative acoustic guitar player of our times. Sadly passed and far too young. He played one of these and did it justice. Here is Michael in 1986 playing Because It's There. He was one of a kind performer, player and man. I had the pleasure of driving him from Chicago Area to Milwaukee for the Inaugural Fingerstyle Guitar Festival in 1986, I believe.

Roy Williamson and Ronnie Brown, playing as the Scottish folk group The Corrie’s, played custom instruments they called combolins for years in the 1960’s & 70’s. One had base strings like the one you show here. The other had sympathetic strings a la an Indian sitar. Beautiful sound that goes so well with old folk fusion.

I can only imagine turning up to an open mic night with one of these. Every guitarist in the audience does a double take and asks 'wtf is that' before turning to their bass players and saying 'you're fired'.

That sound reminds me of when I first picked up the guitar and started learning. The sound of the acoustic was mesmerizing to me. That sound of that guitar takes me there as the sound is hallow and crisp all at the same tie with such depth that it took words away and thorough pleasure remained.

I sang in an amateur rock band, but we had a seriously skilled kid on lead guitar. PRS comes back to the green room after one our sets (didn't even look at any of the rest of us) and talks the kid up about his music, plans, future interests, technique, shakes his hand and leaves the room. The kid looks at the rest of us and says "Who was that?"
