That Taylor #3 has so much power, projection, and tone, you'd not be able to overcome that as a singer. It's going to be the absolute star of the show when playing acoustically in a room. It's clearly worth every penny if that's what you want. But frankly, I love the tones of Taylor #2. A little less volume, but the clarity and tonal response to your playing is really sweet. If you're in a busker mood, this is the one. Plus, I'm a sucker for a sunburst.

I LOVE this store. I was recording at a studio in Allston, MA back right before the pandemic and I came upon Mr. Music whilst walking around the neighborhood. Tom was wicked fun to chat with. We got on the topic of Vintage Red Label Yamaha dreadnoughts and my guy busts out a binder with newspaper ads all the way back to the late 60's or early 70's when he was selling them for $65! I played a bunch of his acoustic inventory and he gave me a tshirt and some other swag. Great video Tyler! As to your point about people keeping big collections of electric guitars with only an acoustic or two to speak of. My collection is the opposite. It's 2 electric guitars and 12 acoustics at my house (including 2 Red Label Yammers). But the real peak of the collection is the Taylor 914 with the Cindy inlays.

My 67 Martin D35 is one of two acoustics I own but the only one I really play. It's got special mojo to it for me. Probably from growing up hearing my dad play it all my life, but now I own it and It's just my own little piece of heaven. There is something special when you find an acoustic you just vibe with. The neck has to feel right, the body has to feel good against your gut, the tone has to hit you JUST right. For me, Martin is the way to go. I haven't touched my Yamaha since I got the Martin.

I have a 1995 Taylor 412 Koa which has a hand written model info sticker by Bob Taylor in the body near neck joint, from before they started printing them out and making them visible through the sound hole. I bought it in mint condition as a potential future collectors item but took it out to show a friend in 2011 and it sounded and played so well (to my much more mature playing hands by that point) that now it's my daily played acoustic - with all the dinks and dents that come with that and probably shouldn't be on it... It is just a magnificent acoustic guitar that needs playing. I owned Martins before that and still love them, but this Taylor snagged me

After playing several for hours, returning next day, I continued to play different models. Walked out with 314ce taylor and man i love it!!! I play a little martin alot, easy walk around the house driving the wife nuts. Pulled my Taylor out couple days ago and strummed a g chord and thought to myself why i dont play nothing but my taylor. Sounds incredible and so easy to play. Side note signed up for guitar super systems yesterday. Fret hand wrist is in a brace at the moment, but I can't wait to check it out. Been playing over 30yrs self tought and figured i can benefit from your knowledge of the instrument. Thanks for what you do!!

Its really popular arround here, and people love to compare them to fenders, to see if it can do the job. Especially the tagima T635, which is the equivalent of the fender standard, i would say. Cheers to all you musicians out there🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

When I was replacing my cheap Ibanez acoustic I wanted a Martin. I had a decent budget but wound up getting the D10 roadshow which is in the sub $900 range, I just really liked how it played and sounded. Taylor's are nice I like the warm tone of Martin.

I have ten electrics. And one acoustic. And I love it, it sits next to my couch and I just hammer out chords and little leads and solos as I watch tv when the mood strikes.

I have 5 electrics: Strat Elite, Tele performer, Taylor SBC-1 Custom Walnut, and a Gibson Les Paul Classic with P90’s. Acoustics I have 3 a Taylor 814CE, A Taylor 200 series Koa CE, and my favorite Breedlove Legacy Auditorium with Myrtle wood bank and sides with a spruce top. If you have not played a Breedlove you need to. He was a luthier for Bob Taylor and after he left to start his own company Bob hired Andy. Breedlove struggled for a few years and 2 old hippies bought the company and now I feel they are on the right path. But all their USA made guitars are great and the off shore are also good for those that can afford the USA made guitars. So in my humble opinion you need more than 1 acoustic if you want different sounds too!

I listened to this blind, and apparently #3 was the best for me. Then I realized, I missed the price tags and thought it was the mid or low end. Then I realized, crap, acoustic tones are crazy in differences with wood, how thick, bracing, sound hole placement, bridge construction (if reinforced, or less wood, seems like less wood makes more resonant) and all kinds of crap. Electrics are so much easier! Acoustics sound nuts between different woods. I have one classical and one acoustic but many electrics. It's weird because acoustics can sound so different but electrics can be so similar. One Spectre studios did the shoot out with speaker choice being the biggest tone changer, made me really think about reducing my guitar numbers. So now I have half a dozen, tuned to various tunings like E standard, D standard, C# Standard, drop D and dadgad or a varation of it. They are all studio guitars, and stay in tune - AFTER I put various upgrades like graphtech nuts and saddles (helped a TON) and hipshot locking tuners. Nice to pick up a guitar and have it be within 5 cents of in tune instead of like 15-25. Keeping a constant 67F helps a lot too. Temp knocks things out quick. Guitars are a pain in the ass. I love them, but they just have mood swings lol.

Funny that Tyler played a Martin 00015m in this video. I have one from 2017 and I feel like it's the only acoustic I'll ever need. EXTREMELY playable, lots of sustain and woody, authentic tone for days, lovely smell and feel of an all mahogany guitar - and last but not least VERSATILE as hell. Responsive and comfortable for both strumming and especially fingerpicking. I like it a lot better than the more expensive standard series.

Ah...I have only one acoustic to...Norman Guitar...looks similar to that natural Martin. I bought it cause I loved the smell of it, neck shape, and rosewood fingerboard... NEver looked any other guitar since then....But that Martin looks cool :)

Well, I own two acoustics, both of which fit into the price class mentioned in the video: an LAG Tramontane Grand Auditorium with nylon strings, and a Crafter ABLE Grand Auditorium with steel strings. I prefer the Grand Auditorium over any other acoustic body shape. I own two acoustics because I love having a choice between nylon and steel, depending on what sound a song "needs". I've only just recently started to learn electric guitar, and I was quite surprised at how different it is. We'll see where this journey ends.

I called number 3 as soon as you started playing it 🤣 it has "it" and the other two (or three, technically), while they are nice, do not. I also only have one acoustic, and it's a Dean that my parents bought me when I was 16 (I'm 40 now). Somehow two non-players found me a beautiful instrument and though I've wanted others, and have bought several more electric guitars, I've stuck by that acoustic and I plan to continue. Nice purchase, Tyler!

I'm so glad you chose Taylor guitars...they are my ultimate favorites. I have drooled over, wished for, lusted after...but sadly I still can't afford one. I Love the 814 CE. But I would be happy with any cutaway they have. Love your show!!!. You're a very great guitarist. By the way...you chose wisely my friend...that guitar sonically was perfect.

I worked at Guitar center in Plymouth meeting PA for years. They had a beautiful acoustic room and then a room inside the acoustic room with the 1-3000 dollar acoustics. And that is where i lived lol. Playing martins and taylors i can never afford.

I have about 12 acoustics and 2 Parker niteflys. Must have my acoustics. Love my Martin, love my Taylors, love my Collings, but the acoustic I play every day is a 2005 Ibanez. Taylors can be hit or miss even amongst the exact same make and model. That third one certainly had some mojo

Oh this is in Allston yea? I went to Berklee and I would go to Allston every week for that bowl of ramen at the chinese supermarket or Korean fried chicken at Bonchon. You know what I'm talking about if you live in Boston. But I've never set foot in Mr. Music for whatever reason LOL. My go-to guitar place was the Guitar Center at Fenway. Just didn't find the need to check other places out.

I've got 16 guitars right now, and of those 7 are acoustics. One 6 string Grand Auditorium, two 12 strings one is a dreadnought the other is a Yamaha APX 9-12 with a funky stereo pickup system, one bell brass resonator, a Yamaha Silent Guitar, a clone of a Guild Paloma SC3, and a 1/2 size carbon fiber.

I like Tayor #2. It had a cool bottom-end thing going and was hitting a certain spot for me tonally. Kinda playful. It also a great look. #3 was fine but seemed like it was something that should be played in a studio or a church, and I want something that looks and sounds like it would be at home in a bar, on a couch, on a porch... That's why I'm more partial to Gibson acoustics. They're workhorses with the soul of a thoroughbred.

I love both Taylor’s and martins, they great companies and great guitars. Although I do agree with you that Taylor’s tend to gravitate towards certain strengths, while martins are more rounded, the guitar you played in the demo is an om-15, which is going to have the least amount of range due to being all mahogany. The mahogany top vs spruce top is not a great comparison. If you played an om-28 it would be hands down the best compared to all the one played in the video.
