16:00 - for risers it’s better to use pitch bend on the synth so you don’t get artifacts from a plugin. Default is usually set to only +2/-2 so you can increase those to taste.
@MusicTechHelpGuy

Yes, if the synth can do a 2 octave pitch bend. Many of them can’t.

Incredibly good tips. 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻 It‘ll take me weeks to get familiar with this. So far I’ve only used the reverse crash. But you are a top expert on Logic. And I’m a complete nobody. When I see this I‘m not even a beginner! With your real helpful tips I can improve a little and get a little step further. By the way: Now my question seems to have got an answer: I always asked myself what filter was used in Dream Theater‘s Album „Distance over Time“ in the song „Room 137“ at 3:59 to 4:03! I think a possible answer can be found here in one of your tips. If not, could you or anyone of those people who read this tell me how the mixing engineer produced that effect? Thanx in advance! 👍🏻

Appreciate, Josh! Love all of the ideas, superb! And, Band-Pass Filter Sweep, Create Your Own Riser, Remix FX Tape Stop are my favourite! For Tape Stop, I'll prefer to Stop all the instruments except Drums! Another method that I always use is "Bass Slide (automate the pitch) ". Just like the style of R&B back in 90s!

Very useful examples and explanations. Any reason not to just bypass the filters at the end of the transition instead of having to nudge the automation back and then set the filter wide open? Same question for muting the reverb tail. Would bypassing the reverb accomplish the same thing or would it lead to problems? Do you prefer the summing stack to just creating a submix bus? I know they are functionally equivalent but curious if there are other advantages of either method.
@MusicTechHelpGuy
@MusicTechHelpGuy 3 жыл бұрын
The reason why I don't just bypass the plugins is that sometimes when you bypass a plugin, you'll get an audible pop or click in the signal. If you really don't want to have the automation jumping that quickly, you can always just duplicate the track, and apply the transition effect on the duplicate track, and leave the original track alone. A summing stack and submix/submaster on an aux track are the same in terms of how the audio is handled. You just get the bonus of it also being in a 'Folder' if you use a stack.
@iamdannywyatt
@iamdannywyatt 3 жыл бұрын
@musictechhelpguy when it comes to automation snap, if it's turned OFF you don't need to move the first node back anymore. At least in 10.4.6, which is what I have, you can have 2 nodes aligned without one deleting the other. It just doesn't work is the snap is ON, though
@MusicTechHelpGuy

Good to know! I though that 'flush' automation points were allowed in a recent updated, but I confused as to why it wasn't working! Thanks.
