True. The same thing happened to groups like Bananarama, Eiffel 65, Crazy Town, and Len when they released Cruel Summer, Blue, Butterfly and Steal My Sunshine, also artists like Skee lo, MC Hammer, and Vanilla Ice when they released “I wish I was a little bit taller” Can’t Touch This, and Ice, Ice, Baby. As an artist you rather put out good single’s consistently and have at least 1 or 2 albums, or some kind of EP out before having a mega single like that. When you just show up out of nowhere and release a mega single you set the bar so high that it’s almost impossible to top, and then you’re only known for that song because you really had no other body of work to build up a real fan base before the mega single. Something singles are just for radio play to build up momentum for an album but if you had no other music out then the fans only just know you as that single. If you can’t make another “Jump, Jump” you’re going down fast!!! Even if you can you might still have people that can’t get past the impact your first single had on them.

I remember being in elementary school back in 1992-93 during second grade and two of my classmates brought an audio cassette of their music to school and when the school administrators let them play it in a boom box during lunch the whole cafeteria of school kids went nuts yelling out the lyrics, "Jump, Jump!" while throwing their hands up as the song played. I got picked up to go home early that day so I didn't get to enjoy what would have been an unusual lunch break experience but still just thought I'd mention it since this video is about honoring their music legacy! 😎👍

@@melindarobinson9153 but you’re the one who brought the topic up, don’t you think it’s critical to discover the Truth? Jesus indicated too many times to count that he was sent by God as a messenger and that he wasn’t God. When the man came to him stating something along the lines of “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life…” why did Jesus reply “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone”…….? There is no trinity, you cannot divide God into parts and then say 3 equals 1. Jesus himself acknowledged the Oneness of God and never claimed to be Lord, therefore love him by following his footsteps and bowing to not only your Creator but his as well.

Back in ‘91, I was lil kid and I had just gotten to this country (US)…..some time later I was walking back home and stumbled upon a cassette tape on the side walk, picked it up, took it home and played on the stereo player. I think JUMP was my 3rd record as a young kid after HAMMER & Vanilla ICE, and was such a fun time to be a kid and in 3rd grade & are all time Legends for that record. It's one of the most iconic songs ever in Hip Hop that is timeless and only gets better for the next generation. Honestly I blame the music industry for these untimely deaths, which are used more like a promotional celebration for posthumous record sales, while loved ones grieve such a heavy and unnecessary death. It's always been and continues to be allowed to be a foundation built upon predatory and exploitative practices that by accounts is simoly a modern day endentured servitude - the artists make 5% off actual sales and around 10% at events or tours , being fleeced for their talent while Zaddy benefits the most, bleeds it dry and moves onto the next enslaved dreamers too naive to ask questions.

These two kid's music were my introduction to Hip-Hop! I was three years old jumping around to jump and begged my mum for the album on cassette once I saw it in the shop. I still have that album now and is the reason why I never threw away my cassette player lol, I got my hair platted and wore my clothes backwards because I wanted to be them, One day me and mum left late to visit family because I wouldn't wear my clothes the correct way. She even caught me doing a mirror performance in my room at 3 years old with the album playing LOL! Jump is their smash hit but I really did enjoy "I Missed The Bus", "Warm It Up" , "Party" and "Cant Stop The Bum Rush"... Pause! Being an adult its annoying I never got to see them live as I was raised in the UK, I feel the same with Pun, Big L, Biggie n Tupac, I was born to late to see the greats. Im lucky to have seen some of my favorite rappers in various countries too and its amazing to see how Hip-Hop is loved globally and celebrated in countries where the native language isn't English. I can tell you they definitely shaped my teenaged years through their music in the nineties,everyone definitely wanted to be like or dress like them,from having box braids to their backwards style of wearing your clothes,I was at work one day with coworkers listening to music,when KRISS KROSS was requested we played some tracks,the very next day that’s when we heard CHRIS had O.D and passed away it’s STILL EERIE to me how we were listening to him the day before‼️ And seeing the other CHRIS give his eulogy at the funeral is saddening‼️🥺😢

They really inspired us young kids. And who can forget their cameo in Michael Jackson’s “Jam” short film. Catchy, talented, and sang songs us kids identified with…”I missed the bus”. To that good positive vibe of “Alright”. “No moms trippin, so me and my mom were dippin to celebrate the fact that I wasn’t slipping.”

I grew up in the 90s and I am almost 100% certain that I've never seen anyone wear there clothes backwards. I did grow up in the Los Angeles area so maybe that had something to do with it.

Those of us from the West Coast didn’t do the backwards clothes as regular attire. There was nooo way anyone from my area had parents that would have allowed it. I remember seeing a couple of older kids dress like them for Halloween for like 2 years though. We had a kid from the South come visit his family and he was doing that. But people kept having to tell people why. Not because Kris’s KROSS wasn’t popular, because they definitely were. I think places like Washington may have done it, but I never saw it when I went North to visit.

I still love Kriss kross to this day, especially when that song jump comes on it gives me euphoria of my childhood. I even wore my clothes backwards at the time and love the big starter, puffy jackets and the jerseys and of course the big black baggy jackets with the fur around the hoodie I still love those jackets to this day And we can’t forget the tan Timberland boots ….Rest in peace Chris Kelly you will forever be remembered and never forgotten …… and just to say, I don’t think a lot of people realize or even the group themselves on how big they were and how much of an influence they were. They will always be a part of hip-hop and people can’t forget that.

Were you older? Because back then fans didn’t go by radio play for artist they actually liked, they bought their CD’s, or went by the videos. If you only listened to them on the radio, then you may feel that way. However, “I missed the Bus” was huge when I was a kid.

@Rumplegirlskin Lmao "I miss the bus" was so huge, then why do majority of people not remember it?! Most people only remember them for ONE song which was jump. Just cuz you liked their other songs doesnt mean they were "hits". They were one hit wonders who probably didnt even create their first hit jump. They werent even rappers before meeting dupri. They were just the face of the product, who probably had ghosts writers and producers making the song for them. Plus they were only 13 yrs old with no musical experience. All of a sudden they make a number one charting hit song? Yea miss me with that. Aint that gullible.

@Rumplegirlskin
@Rumplegirlskin Жыл бұрын
Anyone with a decent memory would remember that. I think it was because they didn’t want his legacy to be about drugs. When he went bald was when the cancer stuff started. Then the media claimed that was what he died from. This was the first I ever heard anything about him dying from, much less being addicted to drugs. I Can understand people wanting to keep that narrative going though. The group was a positive to so many kid (now adults) and no one wanted to taint that. Edit: I just remembered that people from Atlanta knew because an artist mentioned it a few years ago, but everyone said they were lying because it was cancer. They just didn’t know the artist knew because it was all over the news out there. So I think people from that part of the South probably knew it wasn’t cancer.
