They couldn’t have been more different on the outside however, on the inside their hearts all beat to the same R&B drum. Every time they opened their mouths to sing, the mouths of anyone within earshot dropped to the floor. Success was inevitable. However, after many years of brotherhood and hit making, personal issues among the members would pull them apart forever. Let’s find out what happened to American ‘90s R&B group Color Me Badd.

Wow! Just seeing this ! This is very good at keeping the facts! I met them in 1991 . Created all their looks including the colored suits ! Married Mark in 1992 and married for 32yrs. I know everything so I appreciate this staying classy and factual. Styling them before Mark and I got married then all of us living together in the house for 2yrs in NY before our daughter was born was a whole story too! Thank you ! Lisa Smedley - Calderon

I was 10 in 1991 and I remember when I wanna sex you up was considered to raunchy for radio/TV. Crazy how far our society has come. That song is actually classy compared to some of the trash our society has succumbed to. I always wondered what happened to the Group because they were so talented. I hope your life is full of love and fulfillment. Tell your husband there is still fans 33yrs later and he has God given talent cultivated with his hard work. Your Friend in Louisville KY Nick Ppl always think I'm a troll acct because the picture. That's my wife from Ivory Coast. My YT account was banned during c19 so we share hers. Lol. P.S. The early 1990s era seemed to be filled with so many music stars who were so big at the time. I remember the feeling of that time when I was extremely young and Color Me Badd was one of the most talked about groups out there! C+C Music Factory, MC Hammer, Hi-Five, and Boys 2 Men automatically come to mind as some of the most popular acts when I think about 1990-1993.

I have always wondered why C+C Music Factory never kept up making music. They sounded great to me then. I guess maybe the producers were trying to farm the music, like maybe they threw a bunch of people (unfamiliar with each other) together to sing the songs they were given. Whatever happened, the group didn’t develop much past the initial hits and they seemed to dissolve. It’s like no one ever talks about them anymore, but they had some really great songs.
@TheNewgreatlife

@@BlackSeranna One of the producers (David Cole) died shortly after the release of their second album. Along with that, the guy who raps on "Everybody Dance Now" (Freedom Williams) left the group after the first album. Things fell apart basically and were never quite the same. Not to mention after the lawsuit and lip-sync scandal, the public wasn't feeling them as much. Similar to what happened with Milli Vanilli just not on as huge a level.

@@BlackSeranna Before the release of their second album Freedom Williams who was the rapper in the group left to be a solo artist. Then, one of the two producers (David Cole who's the other "C" in C+C) died after they released their second album. With half of the original group gone, I believe Robert Cliviles (the first "C" in C+C) just hung it up. The female singer, Zelma Davis, apparently was blacklisted in the music industry after C+C due to her being so closely associated with the Martha Wash lip-synching scandal from C+C's debut single "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).
@BlackSeranna
@BlackSeranna Жыл бұрын
@@TheNewgreatlife Ah, thank you! You know, before the big scandal with Milli Vanilli, we rocked out that summer, 1989. The songs are still good, but the lip syncing threw a shadow over the whole thing and ruined it. The worst part is, those guys could actually sing. The original singers were American soldiers based in, I believe, Germany at the time. They recorded the songs and then the songs were lip synced by the Milli Vanilli members. I thought it sounded so crazy at the time; I think the general population was baffled as to why music producers would think that this was a good idea to create a team of “musicians”. Right after it happened, our local radio station had a “Milli Vanilli Hits Day”; the whole day the dj’s played top of the chart singles music from GNR, Digital Underground, Bel Biv Devoe, etcetera, and back tagged the music with, “That was Milli Vanilli.”

The racial diversity in Color Me Badd completely contrasted with what was going on in the streets at the time (ex.'92 LA riots) so much so I recall people suspecting the group was manufactured that way, like a gimmick. Jokes were made, but their talent was undeniable. CMB hustled to make it and deserved their achievements. While I don't think groups need to stick together forever, it stinks they didn't part ways amicably.
