Kenny, We do not know each other but you have helped more than you know. Your videos convinced me to go down the Reaper route and I have not looked back. Everyone needs something different at different times but as much as I search for information I always come back to your videos. With this video you have just answered so many questions. Thank you so much.

Dude, with every tutorial I watch you sound less like Christopher walken and more like a legend. Thank you so much for doing these, you’ve taught me loads. And my Christopher walken impression has gotten better too.. 😂👌

Just started using Reaper. Lots to learn, as it is a lot more in depth than the previous DAW I was using that was reasonably basic in comparison. Your videos are a great help Kenny, you sure know your stuff! This XML importation looks like it might be fun to play around with. Nice work and thanks for the videos👍

Awesome!!! Kenny, how did you get the Synthesia keyboard to show up at the bottom of Reaper? Is it layered in, while editing, or is it a plugin? Thanks man!

4:33, Pachelbel - Canon in D. There is an incorrect note in sequence. 2nd bar, 3rd beat - the tonality is fis-moll, but we can see and hear "b" note instead of "a" on the top of upward movement in bass.

Shorter version: "You can treat MusicXML files like MIDI files. The End." What are the advantages of using MusicXML with Reaper? Can the format handle things that Standard MIDI Files cannot? Are there MusicXML-related features of Reaper that won't work for SMF?

Good questions !

Various advantages of XML, e.g. MIDI does not know the difference between an F-sharp and a G-flat; it does not represent stem direction, beams, repeats, slurs, measures, and many other aspects of notation. More at: www.musicxml.com/tutorial/faq/

Xml files have no advantage over a Midi file when used in a DAW, Xml files contains detailed attributes of a note like fret and strings position, staff note orientation(up or down) but they are ignored by DAW's as DAW's display only pitch and time in piano roll view.

Thanks a Bunch Kenny, very helpful ! May i ask: What is the benefit of getting the MusicXML file above getting the MIDI File from that website ? Warm Regards from Holland.

I was wondering the same thing and I think possibly its just to show it for when midi versions aren't available for composers who probably deal with xml more or something.

Thank you for your answer ! Yes, that could be the case indeed :0)

There is no advantage of using an Xml file over a Midi file in a DAW, Xml contains detailed structure of a note like fret and string position on a guitar, DAW's don't show those features, they only show the pitch and time of a note. In summary Xml are only useful for sharing files between guitar tablature software because they preserve the original data structure.

I'm using guitar pro 8 exporting xml files to reaper Having all kinds of issues and no answers. I never had any issues like this with guitar pro 8 to other daw's. They always came out clean. I started importing xml files and they come out messy. First from GP8 export xml file to my folder on my mac desktop. Then from reaper I import that xml file, and its messy. This has been going on for awhile, I went to GP8 support. I sent them my Reaper daw and xml file both. And they told me reaper does not recognize GP8. I really really want to somehow get this fixed.
