I was raised in Brevard North Carolina and my Grandparents have lived there all their lives. It’s a beautiful town filled with friendly people, nothing sketchy about it. Most people there are either college students or older folks

I caught onto that pretty quickly lol, I was just nervous cause we've never hitched a ride from a random person before. But great town I love it there.

I go to brevard once a year and go to this place called the wilds which is a camp. Every year I’ll bring a rod and go out on one of the kayaks, and this year I caught my pb largie at 7.3 lbs.

Please please concider using a leader, to catch and release muskies properly takes being prepared with long plyers hook cutters and a few other cheap tools. Its a low density fish by mothernatures design, its a small river with a small body of fish and alot of pepole fishing for them. Please reach out if have any questions but concider doing better for the resource and the angling community. Thanks good luck

Thanks for the tips! I ended up catching one, release was sloppy. Fortunately it will be a while until i decide to target them again, but noted for the future. Feel free to comment on the video i made when I caught one. Tell me what I could have done differently!

@@JeremyDaSheep I hear ya, I watched it and it perfectly shows why you need a real muskie net. The fish is in the boat and out of the water for far to long. When you have a good net you just leave them in the water till you have all your stuff set up and are ready for a quick picture. That fish is stressed far beyond what is necessary, it's skin is turning red and you can even tell it's getting like dry looking you have handled so long out of the water. I'm not trying to give you a hard time it just sucks that others will watch your video and use the same poor techniques. Like I said feel free to reach out. That's a really nice looking rod and reel set up and nice baits so I know you can afford a 1 dollar leader and some other stuff. We all start somewhere. Reach back to me or check out the WNC muskie club for some more information. These fish are a community resource that's way all of us do better once we catch the bug.

You've got to have a wire or flouro leader to your lure!!! Musky teeth will cut braid in a sec

Luckily I had no issue with my braid getting cut. The problem was spitting the hook haha. If you watch my part two I landed one on much thinner braid. I'm sure I just got lucky so I will use Fluro in the future haha
