There is a solid rubber grommet where the ski bolts on to keep ski from flopping staight down when front end is in air. Many yrs ago I had lent my pristine 87 Phazer to a buddy for a trip to the UP in Michigan for his buddy that didn't have a sled. After they got back home he was going up a ramp on the seawall to his yard from the lake with it, to put it away & it slid off the ramp into said seawall, destroying 1 ski. He did as he should & replaced it but...I wouldn't find out until later, there was a problem with install. Fast fwd to next winter & we were in Northern MI at a buddies cabin we all went to regularly, & went on a Friday night ride after getting up there & unloaded. About 10 miles from cabin we came to a small river water crossing, no big deal on usual night, but not this night. We had some newbies to water crossings & after showing them how to do it & having them do it, they were all excited. Well, on the way back I was 1st as usual to do "whatever"...this time I hit the water & did a Jet-Ski "backturn" & ended up upside down in the middle of river. After dragging sled out myself, finally getting it running, I made it back to cabin with a warm GF to hold me in bed to warm me up. After we get home, I take front skis apart & find he failed to install the rubber grommet in ski, so when I hit the water 2nd time, the ski, rather than skipping across the water, it dipped into the water, spinning me like a carnival ride. Funny how such a small part can have such a huge impact!!

I hadn't considered the daily gear swap you have to deal with... I remember blowing a belt on the trail (way lower consequence). As I was coasting to a stop it occurred to me that my spare was in my other sled. Such a sinking feeling! I went to the bar while my buddy rode to the dealer. It did support my theory that most problems can be solved with beer and a credit card.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Skidoo sleds. A belt is made of rubber and nylon cord. It can only take so much power before they get destroyed. And with all these newer sleds having turbos, I think that's absolutely normal. The engine technology has improved, while belt technology remains the same. Besides, I would much rather take a shredded belt on a Skidoo, then a sheared off primary bolt in the crank, or a broken quick drive. Atleast your back up and riding in 5 minutes, rather then paying $1500 to have your Polaris get a helicopter ride out of the alpine. Which then you're still left with a broken machine, thousands of dollars in recovery and repair bills, and then that's probably the rest of the riding season out the window. Yeah, I'll take a $150-$200 blown belt any day of the week over sheared clutch bolts, ruined crankshafts, and grenading quick drives. I don't want it to seem like I'm bashing Polaris either. Their older machines are great. But they need to get the quirks worked out of these newer machines.

D E L U S I O N A L. You're the typical Doo queen that I can't stand. You completely dismiss a very evident problem from YOUR brand, and then over exaggerate the issues of your competitors. You're a hypocrite, or a Democrat...possibly both. But there is nothing "normal" about burning a belt up inside 500 miles.

That sucks about the Bulkhead on his Sled, looks pretty nasty, we were riding power lines in the UP in Michigan and one of our guys hit the upside coming down from roughly a 8 to 10 ft Jump hard in to the upward ramp on the Next jump, hard enough to bend the Cat Bulkhead into Totaled Sled, it actually cracked the Engine block at the Mounting on the Bulkhead and that ended that Sleds Life with 200 Miles on the ODO, hope your buddy comes out of it better than that. He also had a Trip to the Hospital afterward and Disc Surgery but all turned out OK. It was a scary deal especially because we all saw it happen right beside us in a big Cloud of Snow, Smoke and pieces of sled Flying apart. Even on the Trails with 140 inch suspension there's always the possibility of Terrain damage at 60 mph / 100 kph . Be safe guys!

i for sure know that it looks easier than it is. but still, the "deep" snow i so far experienced (not deep compared to what these boy´s ride in) with my new Lynx is that its easier to ride with a nice flow, just like i was riding my Yamaha R6, sitting down or standing upp. but as soon i get snow that is hard, with a ice lid or really packed snow is SO much harder to ride than powerlike snow we see in these video´s. that is the most easy snow condition to ride in. but i dont ride up a F-ing mountain or in the thick woods. that adds a lot to the difficulty level. and i am jealous AF now. cuz in Dec and Jan we had super good winter condition for a good sled winter. but 3rd week of the year it started to rain and thaw and that fucked it up. it has been snowing a few days adding up more Centimeter´s but the day after thaw or rain every F-ing time... last night i snowed "man cover" lid like snowflakes i was so happy today it rained for 10 hours and temp was +1.1 C...

I know we have spoke a little bit here and there. I watch every day. So i ride a 2023 and 2024 skidoo summit 146 n/a in the flat lands. I ditch bang. Yes its tippy in the ditch. Just the way i like it. So, today you went from the linx to the freeride. You said it felt more nimble. I always thought the lynx suspension would be more suited to what i do. My question is, do you think the handing is because the lack of t motion on the lynx?...... When i first got mine i set the belt as per skidoo. And i rode it for like 300 miles. Then i tighten the belt as tight as i could get it and it is not 30 degrees cooler all day long. I went back to the stock hight and the temps went up.

Two other youtubers that had Lynx last year sold them and went back to their previous rides. They both said it is too heavy and not as playful. @MrWookie1981 weird. I know nothing other than riding the summit 146. Since 2017 I have bought a new one every year. I guess I will just stick to what I know. But I do know that the stock clutching needs work. I have replaced every stock setup with a DJ kit and it's a huge improvement. That and running the belt as tight as I can get it. Yes I'm on the flats but all I do is wheelie. And seeing 30 degrees drop in belt temp surprised the crap out of me. But basically, if loose you start out in a different gear ratio every time.

This is complacency at its finest. Never send a guy alone. Ive wrecked my front end and said ill limp down while you guys finish the day, I went 15 feet off trail due to a missing arm and having to sidehill all the way out, got stuck and then watch 6 guys ride by me leaving me on the mountain. I got out and kept limping meanwhile they got to the truck and then 2 had to ride 20 kms back up the trail. My example isnt the exact same but any kind of distance riding you should have a buddy go with you especially at the end of the day. Ive gone solo riding and i get all the what ifs and what nots. Ive hit walls wearing all sorts of goggles in low light conditions ect.

Looks like Derek is having the same issue I am having with those 509 goggles if he bought those last season and stored them over the summer like I did I think something happens to them cause mine didn't last 2 weeks and charged them for a whole day and still won't turn on.
