On today's Deprogrammed, host Harrison Pitt of the European Conservative is joined by political commentator Connor Tomlinson of Lotus Eaters and special guest Father Benedict Kiely of Nasarean.org.
Father Benedict Kiely is a Catholic priest, incardinated in the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. Born in London, and ordained in Canterbury, England in 1994, Father Ben has spent most of his priestly ministry in the United States.
In the summer of 2014, Father Ben perceived a call to devote his entire priestly ministry to aid and advocacy for persecuted Christians, especially in the Middle East. Founding Nasarean.org, a 501 (c) 3 charity based in Stowe, Vermont and with the permission and support of his Ordinary, Father Ben divides his time between the US, UK and the Middle East, speaking, preaching and writing, trying to focus attention on the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
He has visited war-torn Iraq on multiple occasions since 2015, and has visited Syria, Lebanon, and Armenia where Nasarean is now supporting a number of family businesses.

When it came to quisine ? We could have swapped over training , our top chefs to go to their countries to teach how to make our traditional food, then their top chefs come here and train our own .. And visa versa .. No one of other countries had to remain here and still be able to share the tastes from around the world without having to live here.. Same for the medical profession Makes you then think how productive each of our countries would have been then. 🤗

@@Leoviliti1 Do we really have to? In my country people have been playing around with Indian and Asian foods since the 1830s. Not by travelling but with recipe books. Most foreign food has been anglicised to our taste over this time. Everyone has a friend who loves Thai food cooked in our country, went to Thailand and couldn't eat anything. And at the end of the day the most popular place to eat is one of three pubs. Bangers and mash, roast of the day, fish and chips, steak and chips, chicken and chips, hamburgers and pizza.

I’m not really onboard with waiting patiently for collapse…if we take action now, building awareness and support etc, uniting to demand those in charge listen to the country (maybe we should be taking a page out of the pro-Palestine demonstrators book, it got them enough publicity), then we may be able to avert disaster. I do think things are going to get worse before they get better, but it will be enough to wake more people up from their current sleepwalk into danger… Also we have to show people there is hope, or our birth rates will decline even further, compounding the problem.

There are many countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia that are much closer than many European countries that immigrants and refugees could move to yet they are flooding our countries; impoverishing citizens of the economic lower and working classes, even affecting the middle economic class. Those countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia are, generally, much closer culturally as well. the wealthy love the decreased labour cost regardless of the damage it does to us who have worked for them and helped them build their wealth. We need a great deal less globalism including a decrease in outsourcing and especially a decrease in foreign ownership of business and property.

I would argue that walking into a Catholic church CAN be a big influence on people. Churches can have an atmosphere like no other when they are beautiful tranquil spaces perhaps with a lilt of plain chant in the background and the scent of incense and a few candles burning bright !!

I went to an Easter Sunday at a high Protestant Church in London it was incredible the incense the prayer s and the music and I am sure at one moment a Priest felt the connection to the Holy Ghost as in Prayer he shivered at one point

I've noticed a huge increase in the question, "What are British values?" in the various comment sections. It seems to me that every English person, intrinsically, knows the answer to this question. Those who 'pretend' to not know these values are being disingenuous, imo. Also, we have NO obligation to answer this question to foreigners or those who like to adopt the 'hatchling' stereotype.

Here's one for starters: "Human Rights Watch states that Emirati laws maintain capital punishment and discriminate against women, migrants and LGBT individuals. The government restricts freedom of speech and freedom of the press, and the local media are censored to prevent criticism of the government, government officials or royal families." Here's another: "Any act that insults the divine entity, any religion, Prophet, messenger, divine book or house of worship will be considered contempt of religion and the offender will be jailed for five years and penalised up to Dh1 million, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has stated." Keep in mind that the country is a "Federal Islamic semi-constitutional monarchy" with 76% of the population being Muslim (the natives) while the other 24% are temporary workers. Then ask yourself which religion is the most likely to be offended. Weirdly, having said all that. The UAE probably is the best of the worst. Which tells you a lot.

I was christened as a child and somewhere along the way there was less and less people going the church it’s like it was slowly being advertised less and less almost like part of the plan. I’ve got to be honest I’m lost with knowhere to turn not a hand in sight but know this I love my country this is my home. If I could get to America I would especially if the Christian and family values are much stronger. Because here in the uk Christian value is servearly lacking getting more closely followed by family values

I hear you from Australia. I moved to a rural town a few years ago and when I first arrived I started going to the Anglican services. I used to bring my King James Bible with me to read the readings silently. I was asked not to do so as this offended the LGBT community. This completely misses the point. They think it will make them more popular with young people, but they seek the truth not conformacy. Instead of this attempt at popularity I think they should have a late quick service, (nobody wants to get up early on a day of work) followed by a shared meal. I think this would attract people of all ages. I have spent months at a time in the UK and I do find it is less child friendly than here. Are you Australian too, it is an Australian spider.

But...the American system isn't a model to follow... The only part of the country that has majority Muslim control now has an all Muslim council, has banned pride flags, and has made animal slaughter permissible in homes etc... Another example is what we're seeing on the American universities. America works as a giant carrot with huge benefits and even that isn't enough to integrate these populations.

I loved the Father's "just common sense" remark. For me, if the evidence I have seen in England is anything to go by there is a fundamental "incompatibility" between young Muslims and the national identity of England. That is, its history, its core values of honesty, fair-mindedness, fair play and decency. The acronym W-O-G, now a derided term, was not created just as a racial epithet: "wiley" resonates very strongly as reality whereas "gentleman" resonates only as an amusing witticism.

No Vote for mainstream parties, there are plenty of choice now for parties that are not in favour of latest EU migration pact. I moved to England in 2010 and loved the values I saw: kindness, respect, and people being helpful and slow to judge. Many young people told me they weren't Christian, even though they went to church as kids. I think they didn't realize the importance of the values they absorbed growing up. I often wondered why I liked society back then but don't enjoy it as much in 2024. Your program helped me find the answer: it's the decline of Christian values. As a legal immigrant who invested time and money to join a country with values I admired, I feel a bit lost seeing these values decline. Thank you for this video, as an Christianity believer I'll try to keep these principles and act in Christanity in my life.
