Looking at the US market, we can see familiar patterns. Though, it is noteworthy to point out that that older 4.0L V8 Vantages are significantly cheaper than the newer ones. This gives an indication on the price drop that you can except. It contrasts to the 4.3L market in which there is no price difference between the model years anymore.
So what drives the prices? Of course, an important factor is the mileage. When we look at the mileage sensitivity or depreciation per 1000 miles, we can see that with 1.6% the 4L has the highest sensitivity. The 4.3L and 4.7L have a lower depreciation rate, but it is still high compare to a Porsche 911.
Regarding the price development over time, we can see that prices continued to increase in the 4.7L market. This goes against the market trend. When we look at the details, we can even see that the cars are turning into collectables. 4.3L prices decreased in line with the market trend and also 4L prices are down. Unfortunately there is not enough data to look at the price trends for the special models like the N420, AMR, GT, and GTS.

Great video! much appreciated. I own a mint 4.3 6 spd manual roadster 10k miles. It is fun to drive, very beautiful and drove 5K miles with zero problems. Love it.

10:16 Hey that’s me xD. To give more context I was at a dealership and they had rows of convertibles discounted at $33k off for a final price of 175k. This was in august when car prices were still hot

I’d love to see a V12 Vantage analysis. Big differences now in pricing of V12 S 7 Spd Manual and V12 S, which is now similarly priced to earlier V12 6 Spd Manual. It seems early V12 6 Spd Manual and V12 S are bottomed out around £80k and undervalued. Looking at V12 S 7 Sod Manual at circa £125k-£150k that must be the ceiling, yet only a gearbox separates them on the S. surely they will creep up to similar levels with time?

I think a 4.7 won't depreciate further because the 4.3 will be the rising tide beneath it. The 4.7 will never be worth less than a comparable 4.3, and so it will soon follow into collectible car status. It's already depreciated far enough that the difference in similar age cars is only that 4.7L premium of about 10k. newer cars will continue to depreciate with age until they reach this new, rising floor of the market where they will then be valued on mileage, options, and condition, with the facelift in 2012.5 fetching another premium.

Hello, my 2003 Jaguar XKR convertible got infested with mice and is now totaled. Time for a new convertible. It served me well. Which cars would be your top 3 convertible sports 3-5 years old (I like the newer cars with all the bells and whistles) that will NOT take a huge depreciation hit (or actually appreciate). I would be driving the new convertible only in summer-time, or about 2k miles a year. I want to hand down to my son some day. Which models and years of the Aston Martin, Ferrari (or other) would you recommend? Happy Holidays All!

with the 4.0 manual what would you say will happen with that market/prices of it currently vs the future. Is it still a 2.2% decrease?

Ignoring data (dare I say that as a Data Scientist), I think it is safe to say that with manufacturers shifting away from manuals almost entirely, these will ~eventually~ become more valuable than their automatic counterparts. However, like most cars of this nature, expect depreciation over the next few years in parallel with automatics, and the value difference not to be clear until these cars are closer to reaching the "collectible" status as manuals are faded out of the new car market.

they're surprisingly robust. small things can be expensive if you pay an AM dealer labor rate or buy parts through them, but you'll never need to worry about an IMS failure. worst you'll pay is for a new clutch, and you'll know if that's coming or not.

Ims failure is only on some old Porsche 996 and 997 models.The 991 and 992 don’t have any of these problems and are serviced every 20,000 miles so very reliable cars in general.

It might lose slightly less since aston martin moved to a 'build-to-order' strategy.

Without an evidenced based model, my statements on future values are just opinions. I point this out frequently on my channel. That's also why the video hardly talks about future prices, it is speculation. However, monitoring price trends is still extremely valuable as you can be on the frontier of market changes. I was among the first, if not the first, to point out that the market was slowing and topping in the beginning of 2022. In 2019 I did not have sufficient data, let alone would be able to predict the pandemic price surge. The channel just started.
