Great review my dude! :-D I love blazing star so this game Definetly appeals to me on that level. This game was nominated on my patreon vote, so if it wins I will review it as well ha, the will of the people shall decide ;-) I haven t played the game beyond the demo, but when I played the demo what made me really nervous about picking the game up was stage one, which had a lot of empty space and slow enemy spawns. It does sound like the gameplay picks up though.

I personally like these longer reviews as they help give an in depth focus on good games that otherwise would ,as u say, fly under the radar + your views on games ,as someone who I consider an expert are valuable and trustworthy. Completely agree that indie shmups are the future and that we need to support them as best we can I've bought star hunter dx, super xyx and crisis wing and plan on getting this and others to help these developers as best I can.At the price these games often go for I think they r often a total bargain for what u get. The old classics are great and its good to see so many being rereleased at the moment, but much more fun as the heritage of a still thriving, if somewhat niche, genre rather than a dead one.

I've been following this game since 2018 and it has been nice seeing it release. In the other hand you asked for opinions... I love this kind of long format in-depth review about indie games. I believe content creators like you have an important tan in covering these games that can otherwise be left behind by many who are unaware. 13:40 this is extremely true and well, you know me, I firmly believe that we have to support the community and it's creators however we can. Empowering the shmup. 2020 the biggest year in shmups in a long while, whether people have noticed it or not. You, Mark and a few other spearheading the content creation on KZfaq. Also (obligatory unsolicited opinion / observation): Shooters aren't known for their plots / narrative strengths but they can have some incredibly deep lore and explanations for what's going on. Take all time classic R-Type and its sequels, for example: The official story of Earth vs. The Bydo is *nuts* and one I found as rich and compelling as a traditional sci-fi. Thanks again man.

I’ve enjoyed the extra layer a narrative can add to shmups like Sigma Star Saga and, to a lesser degree, Gleylancer. That and the character portraits caught my eye here.

Hey I have a lot to say here...alright Wings of Bluestar looks COOL! I can see it fused a bunch of different games together, like R-Type, The Cave games, The two "Star" games on the Neo Geo, and I even see some Gleylancer in there. And the fact that ONE GUY made this game...ALL BY HIMSELF is just mind-blowing. Please do more in-depth, single reviews like this. I like depth. 🤠 Also I HEAVILY agree with you on how just criminally underrated shmups are today. I used to go to YET everyday for music class (before the virus) and everyone would be talking about Roblox or Minecraft or Fortnite. Then I would come in with Twin Cobra on my phone and all the other kids would all act like they've never seen a game like this before in their lives. I find that really weird. People are going around talking about Fortnite and Roblox and Minecraft and Roblox and Gacha life and Fortnite and Roblox and Fortnite and Minecraft and FoRtNiTe...and it just never ends. People just need to turn on their brains and appreciate the REAL shooters and stop being blind to Call of Duty and the DREADED FORTNITE. You know, I like the idea of seeing an Aleste game or something in Game Informer's next top something-hundred games ever, but I guess they're just gonna keep PURPOSELY AVOIDING these games. And no, Galaga and Space Invaders and stuff like that don't count. That's all I gotta say.

Great review of a stunning game. I played the demo on Steam and it's a definite must buy. I prefer the longer form reviews which go a bit more in depth. So many good shooters on Steam. A retrospective look back at the Siter Skain trilogy could be interesting.

I really like the look of this game and just made a note of it so I can invest in it and take a look on the PC (I rarely play there but this and Sturmwind are giving me a good excuse). It is amazing that one person did all this and did such an amazing job of it. And like you say you can see the love in their creation and talent, truly an amazing feat in development. I prefer an indepth single game preview like what you have done here, plenty of footage and facts about the game, and in this case exposing a title many of us may never have heard of otherwise, I would have been none the wiser were it not for this video, thank you. Kind of late on this watch but thanks for the review. I'll be playing this weekend. And its on sale. As for my Saturn pad, in using the Retrobit pad in X input mode, hold start for 5sec etc if your having problems. You probably like the oem saturn dpad more though. Try the blissbox adapter if you get a chance.

Personally I prefer these in depth reviews. When someone blasts through several games they tend to just blurt out very little information and don't tell anyone WHY the game is good. It's also cool to see an indie review. I'm not too familiar with newer shooters so it's always good to be able to help out a little developer when I can.

Gotta have the prepubescent girl with the cat ears. If it doesn't have that, it isn't worth playing. Of course, this game is a space shooter, so the cat ears are made of metal and look all techy and futuristic, but the principle is there. I appreciate the effort the devs went to in order to bring us the cat ears. EDIT: The rumble sticking seems to be a common thing in PC gaming. Happens to me with my Dualshock 4 too, although I have noticed it definitely does not happen as much now as it used to 2, 3 or 4 years ago. The only fix I know of for this is one I devised myself, and it is the most brute-force fix of all time: Simply pause the game, then yank out the controller cord, then shove it back in. And voila! Fixed. Assuming you don't play using bluetooth, anyway...

I'm sure I only paid like £5 to get this off Steam, I'm pretty broke (hence buying £5 games) but feel bad for paying so little for a game that one person has put so much work into. I've only had 2 goes on it and struggled with the turrets a bit, more due to having to convert from a snes pad to an X-box controller though. I'm an old school weeb dipping my toes in games after 25 yrs (Han't played since SF2 25 yrs ago, lol). The amount your videos for beginners has helped can't be overstated, have turned me from a complete noob to being proficient enough to play games at a good enough level where I can see my self improve constantly. Don't normally like story mode but I might do it on this one.

I wanna get this game too but the gameplay of other shmups on my wishlist feels more convincing to me.... But then this game got all the feature I wanted in a shmup like the story.

@Shmup Junkie @Shinu Real Maybe you should make a quick video on the recent release for the Switch, PS4/PS5 and XB1/XBSX to make people more aware of this game. It’s also on sale on the Microsoft Store and eShop. I just happen to come across this game randomly while checking out sales. Looks good. Would have bought it on PS5, but it’s on sale for Xbox Series X so that’s a no brainer. It’s also on sale for the Switch, but I usually buy multiplats on the beefy consoles for better fidelity.

I'll have to check this out. I love indie projects, and that's seemingly where most of the best shmups today are being released. Any plans of looking at Crimson Clover: World Ignition? That's one of my favorites!

I got this for switch i think there is a bug when I'm the female pilot when I die a few times and have to continue my ship doesn't show but the game keeps scrolling haven't seen if it happens to the male pilot so far it hasn't idk what is up with that other wise great game

Anyone know how to unlock the "this won't work here" reward? Also some of the choices in the story mode are greyed out, is there a reason for this?

One thing I find really strange - where are the sound effects?! Were these cut out of the video for some reason?
