When offered a free stall at the Mysuru Dussehra exhibition 27 years ago, Zainul Ahbideen felt he should in turn offer the city a taste of something different. And for his main ingredient, he chose the humble gobi, cauliflower, given the popularity of gobi manchurian, but in an avatar that had not been seen before. Experimenting with a spice mix he first made at home, Usman Dry Gobi emerged. It wasn't long before he moved to a street cart, and eventually a streetside stall a few years ago. Great care is taken by him and his son, Usman, to procure the right quality and size of cauliflowers, that are cleaned thoroughly and spiced with a secret masala, before being fried meticulously in a bath of hot oil. The result is the crunchiest, most flavourful dry gobi one can eat in Mysuru, and the sheer number of customers who queue up at this stall every evening stand testament to the fact that Usman’s Dry Gobi has emerged as one of this palace city’s most popular street food creations over the years. ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತಾಡಿ, i don't know why people speak to our muslim brothers in Hindi as though they don't understand or know the local language. They are born and brought up here, many of them know to speak Kannada better than others too.

There is no doubt that Usman Gobi is best of the lot... But what is amazing is how the owner greets us ... His smile and the fact that he still remembers me as the same little girl who used to stand beside him desperately eyeing the Gobi 😍😊

One of the best street food episodes ever. I would definitely try this out due to the sheer fact that the owner uses good quality oil, unlike other establishments which use horribly bad oil, fake butter, tasting powder, food color etc.

Here we go! Long awaited!! Abhid bhai's smile is always welcoming and the dry gobi is absolutely amazing! I've eaten more than 50 times from my childhood..I'm a Bangalorean but wish to become a Mysorean in the future as I love its culture, food, roads and people ❤️

@@manjunathaks607 it's not the thing he's telling. Have you seen other videos of this channel? Majority of them will be having Kannada if it's from Karnataka. The point here is, if Kripal had started conversation in Kannada, the Gobi guy would have replied in Kannada. In Mysuru it feels like an insult for not talking in Kannada.

Hello Kripal, I watch your videos most of the time. You speak to people in Tamil when you visit Chennai Marina beach! And you speak in Urdu with people in Mysore? It is puzzling? In case if they are from different place or parts of the country! Unable to speak the local language then ir is understandable, living in Mysore and running the shop for 27 years No Kannada. I feel something wrong or if you are unfamiliar with Kannada that is making something iffy? You are from Bengaluru?

Mr. Kripal should have conversed with Kannada mainly along with Hindi. Even I want to know if the seller knows kannada, having lived there for at least 27 years. This is only an observation, not making an issue. Sorry, if I hurt anyone ...
