I've been looking for connecting my seizures/ epilepsy diagnosis since May 2020. I never had seizures before not even as a child , didn't start happening until I was 9 yrs out of the army and about 12yrs after tour in Iraq. I am getting treatment from the VA for it, but it's not in my service record. Started after service. Thought I could find something in the pact-act not about neurologic conditions and convulsion disorders.

I have a theory that the diagnosis timeline while important wouldn’t be cemented. If one has a medical opinion that the current diagnosis is the same condition that manifested in symptoms many years prior, that could also work.

You mentioned the TB test and coming up “positive.” You didn’t say “and go on to develop TB.” I went to Thailand during the Vietnam war. Pre departure had a negative Tine test. At the end of that tour, before rotating to the states, I failed the Tine test. Was given no direction by the medics. Two stateside assignments, then on to three years in West Germany. No Tine test going over, but they gave me one coming back, which, of course, I failed. This time they “flagged” my medical records with a red cover, and gave me orders to report to the Community Health Nurse at my gaining installation as soon as I arrive. They started me on a year long program of monitoring, lab tests, X-rays, vitamin supplements, and most importantly, Isoniazid (INH) medication. On my retirement physical I made sure this was pointed out. When I filed my claim I got a zero comp rating on that because I didn’t actually develope the disease. TB is something that could come on as you become elderly, and your immune system starts to break down, so maybe a claim would then be viable, but just testing positive didn’t help with that particular claim. Then there’s Airborne, and that’s a different story…

I filed a claim for TB. My decision letter said they could not link my TB diagnosis to my military service. This makes no sense under the PACT ACT since I thought that TB (Granulomatous Disease) was a presumptive condition. Can someone clear up my confusion? Thanks!

I was in the United States army, Fort Jackson, SC 1974 basic training and Ait 2nd infantry division 1975-1976 so Korea, I was diagnosed with tuberculosis and epididymitis, while serving in this ,meaning 2nd infantry division, a few years ago I was awarded 10% for epididymitis, I filed for tuberculosis, denied, under the pact act or shall I file again? What shall I do? They are secondarily, to one another. Thanks, in advance!

Just an FYI, the VA will not give a veteran a diagnosis for ALS, even if it is in their military medical records, if the veteran has survived longer than two years. This is what they did to me. So, that "unlimited" time frame is BS, because the VA claims that the veteran was misdiagnosed, if they are still alive after two years.

@terrysaunders2026
@terrysaunders2026 Жыл бұрын
@Bill Hamblin: what action did you take after you were told? Did you happen to read my comment posted earlier? Sometimes you can get a false positive. But you need to follow up because if you are positive, your body will encapsulate the TB in a calcium sarcophagus and immobilize it. Later in life as you age, your immune system breaks down from infection or the bad choices we make in life (smoking, etc.) and the TB says “let’s party!” I don’t know what they use now, but in my day they had me on a 9 month, to one year, treatment of isoniazid (INH), vitamins (INH depletes your vitamins) X-rays, and weekly screenings. As I understood it, the INH broke through the calcium and killed the spores (whatever they were called)(I apologize to the the medical professionals for my probable bubba simplification of the process. From a different angle, if your are positive AND untreated, get yourself in the program, because this isn’t something you want to give your family later when it busts loose. TB isn’t anything to mess with!

Do you get max rating for the claim if you’re able to prove its presumptive?
@veteransinfotap
@veteransinfotap Жыл бұрын
No. Presumptive is for the Service Connection part. The rating will be based on the VA rating schedule. Very important to review the rating schedule (ideally before submitting your claim, but for sure prior to the C&P exam)
@retiredcryptohunter9031
@retiredcryptohunter9031 Жыл бұрын
I filed my claim a year ago and it took 10 months to get a final decision which I was rated 100% P&T but what pisses me off is that I was diagnosed with an iron and B12 anemia that has caused serious neurological damage in my hands feet and knees but i didn’t specifically list anemia as a claim but mentioned as a diagnosed condition in my claim and the VA even held up my claim and made me wait an extra two months for a C&P exam and then waited two months after the C&P exam to remove it from my claim and said it wasn’t claimed. It pisses me off that the VA drops people’s ratings for filing another claim or for making someone get an exam for something they didn’t need but if they send you to an exam for something you actually have and even have medical evidence and a diagnosis they will remove it from your claim because they say you didn’t claim it and even after their doctors from the C&P exam also completed a DBQ showing you should be rated with the diagnosed condition.

This is from a deviated septum, tinnitus, perforated eardrum foot injury, and eye injury. Now I have rotator cuff issues, neck slip disc, lower back, hip, sleep apnea, and right knee. What is worse, the VA almost killed me by prescribing incorrect medication dose.
