The timing of this video is mind-boggling. I was approved for the Hilton surpass 170K offer today. I have been in pop-up jail for nearly two years. It took heavy spend across my Amex cards to achieve this. I didn't think you can spend your way out of jail until today. 🏀🏀

🏀 Great timing on this video as I was just about to start in on Amex. Last year I was Chase focused, this year Amex. My plan for the first 4 is all for Hilton - get one of each, then upgrade the Hilton Honors and the Surpass to end up with 2 Aspires, 1 Surpass, and 1 Business. If I can get approved for a 5th, it would be the Marriott Brilliant.

pop up jail sucks especially with no idea why you are in it. Really want the Aspire but oh well

I own a small business and a full-time job as my main source of income. Is it good to apply for AMEX Business Gold for my business and pair it with my current Amex Cobalt? I only travel 1-2 a year so I don’t think applying for Amex Platinum is practical.

Wish I had known this before... I know how to get out of pup-up jail now. I never really use my platinum except for travel and have not used my BCE in a while. I'll start putting spend back here for a few months and hopefully get out of jail.

I get pre-approved for all these Amex cards but I'm in perpetual popup jail even despite having my Gold card as my main driver for over 6 months. I'll have to wait and play the long game on this one 🏀

AmEx just did a random review on my accounts and dropped the limit on one from 12k to 1k and another from 15k to 3.7k.

🏀 I was in pop-up jail about 1.5 years ago when trying to apply for an elevated no annual fee Hilton card. after about 2 weeks, I switched to applying to the Hilton Surpass with a 150K point offer and got accepted. Didn't change my spending much. Also ,y favorite AMEX card is the Platinum for lounge access and ancillary benefits.

Is AMEX still denying a signup bonus on the gold card if you currently have a platinum? Is there a workaround for this say maybe through Cardmatch?🏀

🏀I’ve got 3 aspires, the brilliant and the Hilton business. Ideally would have 4 aspires and cancel the business (unless the impending refresh is good). Spending 240k a year on taxes for 12 FNCs? Yup - sounds like a good deal to me. I suppose the VORP is 480k miles on the VX but I’d rather have FNCs to redeem.
